May God help the soul of this legendary coach and man.

Given that his last name may be short for Pater Noster and be given to those who make rosaries and religious chaplets, I may have to say an Our Father or rosary for him.

Well said. JoePa intentionally "knew nothing" about Sandusky. He never once showed a bit of concern for the boys being raped - boys that were paraded right in front of Paterno by Sandusky at numerous events!

Sandusky sat on the dais of Penn State football events with 14 year old boy dates, then brought them back to his room afterwards. And JoePa "knew nothing."

Bless his soul. He'll need it.

Interesting-after a three year investigation and grand jury proceeding Joe Paterno was not charged with anything. I am fairly certain his soul is just fine because of all the good this man did.

RIP Joe. You will be missed.

The Illuminati strike again—ever since the Knights Templar protecting the deviants of the cloth.

The coach knew too much.

>>It was the universitys job to investigate.

Are universities a sovereign state now, like an Indian tribe? When someone comes to you and says they witnessed something heinous, the only responsible action is to ask them if they are sure and if they will testify to it under oath. If they say yes, you pick up the phone and say, “OK. Then, let’s call the police.”

I feel sorry for him, because this certainly affected his will to live and it’s one of the big things he’ll be remembered for, after all the great things he’s done. But, that’s the price we pay for normalizing homosexuality and putting it up on a pedastal that does not allow any critique. JoePa is just another victim of the homosexual/PC war on American virtue.

Legally, complete indifference to the victims of child molestation is not a crime.

He did what he thought was right for Penn State.

Mike McCreary SHOULD have reported the shower rape to the police. To heck with asking his boss first. He witnessed a heinous crime and didn’t try to stop it. The worship of atlhletics is just so wrong.

I heard all this stuff from the media about Paterno. When it comes to the media being able to get or tell the truth, they rate below pond scum to me.

Paterno was a football coach for a big school. Okay? Somewhat impressive.

He was told that one of his coaches was molesting children and because “he didn’t know what to do,” he did nothing.

I don’t know if this is true but if it was, he should be condemned, not resting in peace. That is why Jesus was given authority to judge, He knows everything and knows Paterno’s heart.

No offense, Freepers, but I did wish to see JoePa trotted off to jail in prison jammies for his disgusting coverup of that Sandusky ba$tard.

And, in a morbid way, JoePa’s death will add to the coverup, because we’ll not know what the head coach covered up and why he covered it up.

Oh well.

University has its own police department. Any crime on PSU's campus is handled by PSU police. Since Sandusky no longer reported to Paterno, and Paterno was not an eye witness, he did the best he could by reporting to PSU authorities.

The grand jury indicted the right people, although they may get off because of McQueary's multiple stories.

Why didn’t Penn State just ask him to retire rather than fire him. His life was his family which Penn State was a major part of. Bless you Papa Joe

The arrogant pos dictated to the school that he was retiring after the season. The board did the the right thing in firing him. Too bad he couldn’t do some time with Sandusky

Remember before he was terminated, that Joe had announced he would retire after the season.

Yeah, I remember that. I said at the time it was the ultimate arrogance and he needed to be fired. Glad the board did the right thing. Sad that he couldn’t have died in jail

What would Paterno benefit from covering up for an ex coach who was molesting children?

He reported what he heard from an assistant coach to University authorities who should have done something. Paterno, short of being a vigilante and killing the guy himself, had no authority to do anything , except coach a college football team.
