Well said Joya. For those of you who have never been to State College, even just to watch a single game, you can’t understand the position which Joe Paterno held at PSU. My last visit there was in Easter 1997. My friends drove me by Joe Pa’s very modest home and we could see him enjoying Easter dinner with his family. He was a class act and didn’t deserve the treatment he received from the PSU Board, the Monday morning quarterbacks in the media, or the holier-than-thou types trashing him on FD.
Joe was a good man and a winner who might have made an error in judgement. Had the same fate befell Bear Bryant, or the coach of some other misquito infested southern school like Ole Miss or Georgia, most freepers would be offering condolences. /od !less you, JoePa.

I know. I'm am surprised at the level of vitriol toward Paterno. They've allowed the media to condemn someone without any evidence. I guess tearing down legends is part of the game.

I know why I am. My b-i-l was accused of sexual child abuse, so I know first hand about this witch hunt. You are guilty until proven innocent and still you aren’t. My b-i-l still trying to get his life back.
It is. And, keyboard commandos who fall for the media spin come in “conservative” too. That’s one of the hardest things I learned in this.
They lost sight of who did this, Sandusky, and who covered it up, the BOT, politicians, school admin, and go with the Media spin of tearing down Paterno.

from what I understand- the alleged abuse(not sayin I don’t believe it to be true) at the time was alleged...
once reported to Paterno, he passed that info on....
once this is info is passed on, and no one above takes action, I would assume that it either was investigated and concluded unfounded, or if I knew it were never investigated, I would assume that the politics of those in charge found Sandy above reproach and “politically” protected......
My understanding is that he followed chain of command on his knowledge of any allegations...

as long as we chat about what Joe shouldda done, they get to keep the attention off of THEM— the ones who had the actual authority and the legal obligation to take action...

seriously, if I called 911 over domestic abuse at the house next door, the police came, and all was normal the next day, not much I can do until I actually hear or see it again...
