At West Park, Rev. Brashear walked into the church for a morning service to find the 18-inch-diameter bronze basin and lid missing from the baptismal fonts 800-pound base. Holy water straight from the River Jordan had been poured from the missing basin insert into the bases bowl.
About 60 occupiers had rolled out their sleeping bags between the pews the night before as part of their evening ritual, Rev. Brashear recalled. When they returned to the church later, following the pastors discovery, he issued a stern warning: You have 24 hours to find it and to come up with an amends and to come up with a plan. Im sorry and it wont happen again wont work, he scolded.
The artifact vanished just three weeks after a $2,400 Apple MacBook vanished from Brashears office. He told the occupiers that even when the 100-year-old Upper West Side church extended help to addicts during the 1980s drug scourge, no visitors touched its $12,500 sacramental instrument.
Not even crackheads messed with that, he said.
The pastor and a worshipper finally found the missing basin tossed into a small room connected to the church. The lid is still missing. The pastor has given protesters two weeks to vacate the church.

Welcome to the real world, Reverend.
Sorry, Reverend, you deserve no sympathy from me or anyone else. Your stewardship of the Lord’s house is woefully negligent and you should be reprimanded by your superiors.
The Commandment was given to everyone in the world. Unfortunately, a lot of ‘neighbors’ think the Commandment was given to religious people only. At the ‘End of Days’ when we all stand in Judgment there will only be Heaven or Hell.
Not even crackheads messed with that,”
Crackheads have a better moral compass than communists do.
Who here is surprised?

Nope. You go to sleep with dogs, you wake up with fleas. Happens every time. He learned the hard way what what the Scripture means when it says”Don’t casr your pearls before the swine....”
When the clergy side with pro-abortion progressives, they lose all sympathy, IMHO.
“Stolen and sold for scrap metal to buy drugs, and I have no sympathy for the Reverend.”
Stolen? I thought commies only “liberated” things that don’t
belong to them./s
Matthew 7:6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred;
Mt. 12:43-45:
When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, “I will return to the house I left.” When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.
Agreed. It belongs to the church, not the pastor. Forgive him while sending him packing.
Do you think the churches would allow right-aligned political groups (like the Tea Party) to camp out?
How soon would it be before someone demanded the IRS
stop the church’s entry into politics?
The entire reason President Obama/Soros created OWS was to have them burn the country down during Romney's presidential campaign so they could blame Romney.
If Romney is not the GOP candidate, OWS has no reason for being.
There’s no excuse for a Christian pastor to be supporting these swine.
1) Unlike the crackheads that he let sleep there earlier, they are not in need. Most of them are rich college kids from well-to-do families.
2) They are doing work that is incompatible with Christianity. Hateful, Communist work. And most of them are, indeed, pro-abort and pro-Obama.
So, this is neither charitable nor helping in a good cause. It is simply part of the confusion that many Christian pastors have fallen into since the cultural revolution of the 1960s.
"Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces."
The fact that they let these fools in to do this in the first place tells us everything we need to know about this alleged “church”.
I couldn’t believe it when he let them stay after his $2400 laptop was taken. Was that paid for by the parishioners? This guy is a lousy steward of the faithful’s trust. Now this landmarked church has lost part of its baptismal font.
These churches stand on high-value real estate. Several of them have sold out to deveopers on the pretense of providing services for the poor instead of maintaining an old structure. One was totally demolished. Others have had grotesque buildings built right on top of them, or they have sold their airspace so that monstrosities could be built next-door. We had to get our whole neighborhood rezoned to prevent this kind of stuff.
What was the good deed in this case??
