He was an alcoholic that had gone back to drinking. When he was picked up, he hid one of his shoelaces somewhere on his person and tried to kill himself in the jail cell. After being stopped, getting evaluated in a hospital, and convincing them he was not suicidal, he went home and finished the job.

Earmarks involve hard earned taxpayer money being spent on absurd projects..like the shrimp on the treadmills. Check out CAGW site to look at the tremendous waste ...it is pork and in no way is it good. It is also used to bribe congress...”I’ll vote for your bill IF you give me....mega millions for my state” it is the equivalent of extortion but in a “legal” way. CORRUPT

“When the GOP nominates their man, he will get my support.
Until then, I am entitled to my opinion of Newt Gingrich.”

You can call Newt short, old, fat, like you did, but when you call him a liberal, that’s a lie and not looked upon favorably here.

Since when is Free Republic a place where longtime CONSERVATIVE members are censored because they disagree in a PRIMARY CONTEST?

You really ought to brush up on the site owner's most recent remarks regarding the trashing of Newt Gingrich, who he (and most others in this community) feels is the 'last man standing' for patriotic conservatism and the fundamental ideals this nation was founded upon.

The only thing that concerns me about their reaction is this:

Since they control the media, they control the debate setting. Looking at how it seemed to take the charisma out of Newts performance this evening, if we have Obama and Gingrich on a stage, with a boring moderator and a silent or no audience, it may give an advantage to Obama and neutralize Newt.

This may be the reason for the praise in Newts performance tonight-to encourage this debate style for him and in effect, remove the very best Gingrich weapon.

No one is going to see nor remember Mitt’s flailing on Newt. They will however hear and remember Newt’s grasp of language, government and his ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms Americans can understand.

Especially that last question.

That is why Newt will win.

Post of the night.

Andrea and Chuck F. Todd are salivating at the prospect of open warfare in the Republican Party in general, with Andrea reporting that if Newt takes off with this thing, the Republican establishment will back away from Romney and bring in Jeb Bush or some alternative to Newt who is NOT Romney. Romney? Romney is DONE and the establishment knows it.

Bachmann’s man who quit, Ed Rollins, even says Newt has a good chance to take Florida. Romney HAS to have Florida. The bundlers will leave in droves.

Egads, look at Andrea Mitchell’s neck.

Is there a name for that?

I think "Egads" works.

I’m still betting there was much more to it and while I don’t think Newt did anything wrong (or would have), it doesn’t mean that Brit doesn’t see it that way or blame him somehow based upon rumor.

Parents of suicides often look to blame others.

And another 50 different dialects of English alone in parts of Louisana and Alabama!

I would like to see Perry involved in some fashion in a Gingrich administration. Not sure what the best role would be for him, but i came away very impressed with him.

This has been an interesting primary so far, considering we are only 3 states in. The polls have swung wildly to almost every candidate going back to last summer. Almost seems like when someone becomes the frontrunner in the polls, they drop like a rock within weeks. We had Bachman, Perry, Cain, Gingrich, Romney, and now Gingrich again. Maybe best to be a close 2nd and rack up enough delegates and fly slightly under the radar LOL. Being a frontrunner is dangerous!

This was a pretty low key debate as compared to last week. Mitt helped himself some. Gingrich didn’t hurt himself. Santorum looked better than last Thursday. In the end, this one probably doesn’t change much.

I think this race goes all the way into May and June now. Which is good. At least it forces the media to talk about the republican candidates. And Obama is kind of getting drowned out right now. And regardless of who gets the nomination, these large number of debates and drawn out primary battle will only strengthen the republican nominee.
