And Romney KNOWS all of that. He’s scum, trying to throw whatever he can against the wall, hoping that some of it will stick in people’s minds, regardless of how baseless the accusations.

I can’t stand liars. (Telling part truths is not truth-telling; it’s call a lie/deceit.)

Newt Tweeted Chuck Norris’ endorsement might earn a a cabinet position: Secretary of Attack

Perry could be the Secretary of Southern Border Security and work closely with Chuck Norris on the to make it happen by 2014.

Get to it Texas Rangers!!!

I will stipulate Newt would have proceeded along the lines you indicate were there world enough and time. The takeaway question: will Jeb read the subtext and know to refuse Rove's entreaty later this year.

Charles: stop worrying about who we, the army, have as our leader. We are our leader, we just need a candidate to carry while we mow down Zero.

Remember November 2010: Grassroots slaughter of rats and rinos. We’re going to do it again and it frankly doesn’t matter which candidate rides us.

Don’t you see? This is what the Founders envisioned and provided for us.

Our ability to tsunami out the dreck AS A PEOPLE. Stop thinking externally, think wolfpack for now.

Have you lost your freaking mind?

You’ve been here long enough to make me think we are at least the same age and you should still retain a decent memory.

What? Oh, you’ve been suspended for roughing the passer...

Exactly, if you go back and analyze it just about every question asked boils down to “Isn’t the Obama policy right and it’s impossible to do anything else?”

The invisible elephant in the room is not a single question recognizing taht Obama has the country screwed up.

My God there was even a “Don’t we HAVE TO negotiate with the Taliban?” question.

“You know, untwist, if the Establishment cuts the legs out from under Newt, by dropping Romney (with whom I believe they are DONE) and they go and bring in Jeb, or Daniels, there will be open warfare in the Republican Party.”

You may be on to something. By NBC saying that Newt won the debate, when they easily could have called it a draw, or even called it for Santorum, with credibility, tells me that they clearing the field for someone new to come in, such as Jeb, Daniels, or Christie. Unfortunately, if they don’t do that really quickly, the base may bond with Newt and it will be game over...and The Establishment will look like total idiots.

Tacticslly, Newt is a step and a half ahead of Romney.

Strategically, Gingrich is in a different league.

NBC attempts to neutralize Newt by taking the crowd applause out (thus boring us to death)....Newt switches gears and is accommodating and Presidential...

Both winning the debate with back to back singles and gaining some minor credibility with the conservative element of the Establishment, giving them ammo to stop attempts to bring in a relief pitcher like Daniels.

Almost seems like when someone becomes the frontrunner in the polls, they drop like a rock within weeks.

True! Although it's been the conservative frontrunner who has been taken down time and time again, not the moderate frontrunner (Mitt). Which speaks to how much the establishment wants to promote and protect moderate candidates, those that they view as more media friendly perhaps.

Maybe best to be a close 2nd and rack up enough delegates and fly slightly under the radar LOL. Being a frontrunner is dangerous!

True again! And Santorum looks to have benefited from that tonight, although i don't think he has enough money or organization at this point to really make much headway. He did look good in this debate, i'll give him that. But no one is really gunning for him at this point, for as you say he's "flying under the radar", so that makes it easier to come out looking good. Still, he finally seemed to get the right tone. Assertive and at times forceful without sounding whiny and pompous (at least from the bits i saw of the debate).

In the end, this one probably doesn’t change much.

I hope you're right. I've felt nervous about this debate all day for some reason, and perhaps that caused me to think Gingrich was doing worse than he really did. It was a boring debate. Doubt all that many viewers watched the whole thing. My concern is that many of them may have only watched the beginning where to me Gingrich was at his weakest.

Sounds like they did to Newt in the 90’s what they did to Palin in Alaska with the 100’s of frivilous ankle-biting lawsuits.

However, Newt has gone on to live another day.

As far as being an “influence peddler” — I’d rather Newt’s influence be peddled than some smarmy Democrat/progressive’s influence.

What’s so bad about being influential?

At the beginning, they were told no applause, cheering, etc.

That’s wrong, IMO. But it’s obvious why NBC did that.

I don’t doubt Newt would have, since he was obviously going down that track....

If Jeb’s got any smarts, he’d better know he ought not.

Newt’s campaign motto should be this:

BEAT ME IF YOU CAN! SURVIVE IF I LET YOU!

(For all you pro wrestling fans, this was ECW champion Taz’s catch phrase.)

Rack another one up for Newt.....

Santorum was right, that on three of the hot-button issues of the Tea Party, Gingrich was with Romney on the wrong side.

Like TARP. Like the individual mandate.

Unfortunate that Iowa couldn’t count their votes so Santorum didn’t get credit for winning Iowa, and that freepers who could forgive Newt for Dede Scozafosa, cheating on two wives, sitting on a couch with Pelosi, and agreeing with John Kerry about the GOP and global warming, couldn’t forgive Santorum for supporting his fellow republican senator in a primary.

Did Gingrich endorse someone in that 2004 primary?

We probably have no choice but to support Gingrich now, but I’d love to keep Santorum in the race in case Gingrich implodes or screws up. It would be a sad day for conservatives if we chase Santorum out of the race to help Newt and then Newt screws up and we end up stuck with Romney because we chased all the other conservatives out of the race.
