DEARBORN HEIGHTS — A figurative beat down turned literal beating has led to the felony arrests of a group of local high school football players.
Police arrested four Star International Academy seniors Wednesday on aggravated assault charges stemming from an altercation in the team’s last game of the season.
The players -- Mohamed Ahmed, Fanar Al-Alsady, Hadee Attia and Ali Bajjey, all age 17 -- are accused of gang-beating Lutheran Westland’s quarterback as time expired in Lutheran’s 47-6 drubbing of Star on Oct. 21.
According to numerous witness statements gathered by police, Lutheran’s quarterback was set to take a knee to run out the clock. Before the snap, referees told both teams to refrain from contact, police said.
After the snap, however, the four arrested Star players burst through the line and allegedly manhandled Lutheran’s quarterback. Police said they ripped off his helmet, threw him to the ground and punched and kicked him repeatedly. The incident came to an end after coaches, players and refs stepped in and broke it up.

Not many options here and I thought it was the teams responsibility to keep the other team from scoring points. Maybe I got the jist of this whole competition thing wrong.
and your right. The New England Patriots are the only football team in the NFL, colleges, or high schools that take a knee to run out the clock. We should tax them 25% of whatever they score and give it to the opposing team.
The only other option is to continue to advance the ball and try to score. Is that what you would advocate with a 41 point lead with less than a minute left?
And would you think it okay when one of your players goes down with an injury because you find taking a knee distasteful? I don't get it.
They should have played on for a 48 point lead?

If this “peeves” you, then you don’t understand how football works. What do you expect them to do? Run up the score? Punt the ball away? Kneeling is the honorable, and intelligent, thing to do.

This is a taxpayer supported Muslim charter school. Separation of church and state is not a problem for Muslims. Our tax dollars are supporting these people and they scream racism so you know they are playing the game.
This event happened months ago and there is only a small article about it. The MSM is covering this up. It is doubtful the perps will be sentenced to prison time. They will probably get away with it.

You're probably right. But when you have a 40 point lead in a high school game, the honorable thing to do is to give your second and third stringers a chance to play.
High school football should be, first and foremost, a chance for kids to play and possibly have access to college scholarships. Not an opportunity for the coach to run up the score, rub it in and glorify himself.
In my era, it was called sportsmanship.
But again, no sympathy for the Muzzie punks who gang beat the QB. They should have the book thrown at them. Not because they are Muzzies but because that is far worse sportsmanship than kneeling on a ball with a 41 point lead.

...That this may have been going the "Penn State" route of handling felonies...(I mean how long does it take for authorities to view video tape & interview witnesses?)
Perhaps, some coach or administrator broke ranks from the Joe Paterno/Nittany Lion School of Coaching & Administrative Ethics and actually did something more than pass this on to their "superiors."
