"will save $5,900 in gasoline costs over the life of the average vehicle."

hmm...they catch on fire after 3,000 miles.

That's a lot of gasoline.

This is great for the used car business and for buying cars out of state.

I can hardly imagine what a new car in California will cost. I only hope the car manufacturers can contain the added costs within California’s borders rather than spread the cost out nationally.

Coming later will be the QFP (Queers, Freaks, & Perverts) Board mandating that 1 in 15 marriages must be queer marriages. Marriages will be mandatory and will be determined by random draw. Sorry, but you will not have a choice in the matter as the State of Californicate has determined that it is in the public interest to maintain and celebrate minority populations.

That’s stupid. How much will it use in electricity?

Electricity costs the earth in CA, because of the wacko greenies.

This is a really large step. It's transformational

He's right - it IS going to be transformational. It's going to help transform Kalifornia into a third world hell hole, where all the productive people who want freedom of choice and to be able to live in a non-repressive environment that's not ruled over by libtard nutjobs will head to better states, leaving behind nothing but the hordes of parasites with their hands out, feeding off of the crumbs left behind.

...California regulators Thursday are expected to approve sweeping new rules requiring that 15 percent of new cars sold in California by 2025 run on electricity, hydrogen or other systems...

Who thinks up this stuff? Does anyone think about the consequences?

Does this apply to new cars only? Dealers will sue. I see a new industry springing up already - straw buyers in neighboring states.

How will they enforce? Refuse to register any new cars until someone buys an electric one? They'll need to check for weapons at the title office, people going postal will be a daily occurance.

How many new cars are sold in CA every year? A Million? 15% of that is 150,000. And how many alternative-fuel vehicles are built every year? Not that many, I'll wager. Let's see, 5000 Volts, Maybe 7000 Leafs, a few hundred Teslas. The other 137,000 potential buyers? There's always next year!

Apart from electric cars, the latest rules also affect vehicles that run on gasoline and diesel, requiring a 75 percent reduction in smog-forming emissions from new cars, SUVs, pickups and minivans. And they require a roughly 50 percent reduction in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. That would force carmakers to build more fuel-efficient gasoline and diesel models. stop selling cars in California.

Fixed it for them.

If the California legislature would just allow electric golf carts to be licensed for street use, they could have their 15% quickly and easily.

Does California plan to build a Berlin Wall to keep its victims from escaping? As the state becomes loonier, the smart ones will leave and the not-so-smart won’t be able to afford those expensive electric toys.

In all seriousness, this really looks to me like an advanced version of either a two-year-old’s tantrum or a teenage girl’s daydream. Just wish that it were so and that’s the end of the train of thought.

And our slow suicide continues, but this time we're taking you all with us. California sets the standard for every car sold in America.

I'm the proud owner of a perfectly serviceable vehicle which I can't drive because it can't pass smog. But I still have to pay the registration, which they won't give me until it passes. I can't even junk it without up to date tags, not that I would, it's only 10 years old and paid for!

They say the mileage standard will offset the cost of the car, but they keep increasing the amount of ethanol in the gas which decreases the mileage by half, and ruins your engine. We already have the most expensive gas on the mainland. This is just part of their diabolical plan to force us all out of cars and onto trains. These so-called Progressives want to take us back to trains and windmills, horses and buggies.Nothing progressive about them.

I don't know if any pressure can be brought on Gov. Moonbeam, but you all should call your Senators and Governors and scream bloody murder about this because it affects you all. Maybe they can prevent him from signing it.
