Who do you think Palin’s supporters currently are backing? If Santorum, why do you think that would be? If Gingrich, how does her endorsement help him?

From what I see here, Palin supporters jumped to Cain, and then to Gingrich.

But seriously, I don’t think Palin’s endorsement could put Santorum over the top. It’s as silly as someone saying her endorsement could put Gingrich over the top. That was the point I was trying to make — that her supporters aren’t currently sitting on the sidelines, or supporting Romney, and I think they are mostly already supporting Gingrich.

It’s different when a candidate quits, because they have people who support THEM, and those people have to find a new candidate. Palin doesn’t have any people currently voting for her that would change to another candidate.

BTW, I think her value is in declaring Gingrich a conservative, for those few who still argue he isn’t — but she did that in South Carolina with her “vote for Gingrich in South Carolina” call.

Because if I, as a non-felon, non-crazy person, have an “absolute right” to own a gun, and then I do something stupid with the gun, I could lose the “absolute right” to own that gun.

You twist logic..

A non-felon has an absolute right to own a gun. If you become a felon then you are no longer a non felon.

Your argument doesn’t stand up well in light of what’s going on. Who says Newt can’t stand up in the face of the attacks? How much of an attack has there ever been against Santorum in this campaign? Almost none. He is a nice guy but in the context of this Florida primary I can tell you he is considered an also-ran, as is Ron Paul. If you don’t believe me, just check the Sun-Sentinel, Miami Herald or Orland Sun.

If you think a strong debate performance has moved the S. Florida Hispanic vote, or the panhandle military vote away from Newt and to Santorum in any substantial numbers, this is not the case. This is a 2-man race for Florida.

I am not saying that Rick is not worthy of respect, but he is not going to finish anywhere but 3rd and don’t expect that a lot of pissed off conservatives who have seen Romney’s and the establishment’s dirty campaigning against Newt play out here are now going to reward Romney by voting for Rick Santorum. We still have 5 days to go. By Tuesday, this debate will be a distant memory, just as Newt’s fantastic debates last week are a distant memory now.

Kristinn, can’t the FL Tea Parties put a stop to Romney’s people sabotaging Newt’s events? Our people need to stalk the media and counter those infiltrators.

I recall hearing that the “new” mission of NASA was to make muzzies feel good about themselves. I think 0bama chose his administrators well. They have little imagination, but boy, can they count beans!

Hmm, all that pork...and beans...and muzzies....But Newt calling for vision and innovation annoys some, even here on FR? Ouch.

The “magic underwear” are technically known as Temple garments. (I’m not LDS myself, but I spent a summer in Utah once, and an ex-Mormon told me some of the FUNNIEST stories about the “garments!”)

Newt pointed out in his speech that, indeed, government is ill-suited to do the development. Instead, the idea is to provide an environment and incentives for that development (of space and technology.)

Now, that said, the prospect of the Chinese setting up permanent shop on the moon first IS a concern of the U.S. Government. Just for starters, that means, at some point, the Chinese surpass us in aviation and space technology. Think about what that means. And that’s just for starters. The Chinese are no fools. They are very smart, very ambitious, very hard workers, and, at this time in our civilization, better long term planners. They absolutely know what they are about.

As to your other point, in younger years, Gingrich was a reader of speculative fiction (Asimov, etc.) and the old “techie” rocket mags, so I hardly think his ideas are completely new, at least not to him. They certainly are not new to a lot of us in tech areas of work. But I think it took Obama management of NASA to make it clear just how far we have sunk. So, at some point you re-focus and re-fire: Are you saying there is a better place and time than the Florida primary to do so?

BTW, from a discussion on another thread I know you are a fellow music-lover: You really ought to hear those carbon nanotube diaphragm speakers! Pricey now, yes, but like early computers, they are but a foretaste of things to come. :-)

So many of us conservatives are saying we will never vote for Mitt and will allow obama to win. That means that the GOP is over and we form a new party. My question is, why do we only say this to each other? Why don’t we bombard the establishment with e-mails telling them what is going to happen if they force Mitt on us?

In case anyone has not seen it, they should, even if they are not a Gingrich supporter:

(Maybe especially if they are not a Gingrich supporter.)

Gingrich remarks are 26+ minutes long, so watch it over dinner or something?

Santorum, honorable? He’s a bottom feeder. He’s been sliming the conservatives in the race since day one. If Romney is the gutter King, then Santorum is the court jester.

God, I hope you’re wrong. And for the life of me, I dont’ understand Santorum at ALL. He KNOWS he can’t win. He KNOWS his presence only helps Romney. WHAT is up with this guy??? Does he care about this country AT ALL???

The media hasn’t paid much attention to him but that doesn’t mean he isn’t viable. Look at the real clear politics graphs. Anything can happen. he is trying to run for the nomination. If newt were not in it, it would be him vs Romney. And he could then win. He’s more conservative and has far more character than newt, and now he’s shown us tonight that he can fight and debate, too. We don’t need Newt and his baggage any more. Though a lot of you are tied to newt. I got used to having to look at other candidates because I was a Sarah fan, then a Cain fan. This year one has to be flexible!

Newt is a visionary - Mitt can only see as far as his pocket.

He hasn’t had one idea about anything. It’s always - our country needs to put people back to work and he’s the one to fix it. He is SO FLAT in his answers, it’s pathetic. He never really answers the questions but says something so it looks like the question is being answered.

Mitt couldn’t touch Newt’s ideas - much less understand them. He doesn’t have the mind for it. Neither does santorum. There aren’t that many visionaries and they are usually open to ridicule because the average person just can’t reach that high. Newt really would make one awesome president. America would be greatly enriched.

Standing firm with my tag-line is too much to ask, eh?

“Were Rick in Newt’s shoes the Romney-GOP smear machine would be on him as well...but that fact eludes them “

Exactly! Very well put!

I’m so disgusted with the GOP now. This time, it’s war as far as I’m concerned.
