>> “Paul is an intelligent man, but he seems to speak in a stream of consciousness.” <<

.
I think he was the only person on that stage that demonstrated any understanding of our economic plight, and from whence it came.

Too bad he’s such a kook on foreign issues.

"Santorum holdouts need to declare their sympthies now, if they have the backbone."

If you think people with a backbone let others tell them what they "need" to do, you clearly don't understand the concept.

sheik, You do such awesome stuff and the posting page has a “TOPICS” option (among a page full of topics). Vanity is one of the options I believe. I haven’t actually looked at it yet.) I just posted my first article today and am not competent to do it in time.

VinL, or kristinn might do it for you. Seems URGENT to me. Heck, maybe you could ping JR. I guess I am pinging them for you, since I recommended them by name. :)

I remember the first election I voted in.... 1980 for the greatest president of the 20th Century, Ronald Reagan. I was so excited on election nite. And then the 1984 debates, RR was so so great. I miss those days.

It’s not that Newt is weak on the illegal issue. He’s practical. But he needs to back off and shut up about it.

I know that Newt says he likes Santorum, but how low can a man go to lie about your friend of 20 years? Santorum knows damn well that Newt has not been for an individual mandate for 20 years. He knows damn well that Newt and WIllard’s positions are not the same. He treats Newt with as much contempt as he treats the worthless Romney. Santorum has no integrity whatsover. He should know he has no chance at the nomination and should get the hell out because all he’s accomplishing is handing Romney the nomination on a silver platter. I don’t think Santorum gives a damn if Romney wins. If he did care, he would get out and support Newt. But if Newt’s friends are like Santurom he damn sure not need any enemies.

You’re right.
He reminds me of the character Harold in the Book/Movie The Stand. He gives me the creeps and I want to smack his face.
My bad! (not)

I would also add that Santorum was lecturing Newt on illegal immigration tonight.

Never mind the fact that Santorum seemed to agree with Newt on illegal immigration during the Sep. 7 2011 Reagan Library Debate.

Roll tape....

(My bold)

BTW, maybe somebody can answer this for me.

If Newt wants to legalize illegals who have been here more than 25 years and if the last amnesty was about 26 years ago, just how many illegals would be covered by this new amnesty?

Pray for Newt

What makes you think Romney would appoint conservatives to the USSC? He didn’t in MA. Hell, he didn’t even appoint very many Republicans. He appointed mostly Democrats.

I called him St Santorum in one post and that was in regards to his electability in the general election.

If you don’t think his pious view of himself wont hurt him in the general, you are mistaken.
Running around saying that women who are raped need to deliver the baby wont help him a bit.
I applaud his devotion to the protection of innocent life, but bringing up these matters for no reason other than to prove how pious he is will destroy him in a general election.

"Santorum ended his chances tonight with his answer to the tax question."

I've been repeatedly told that "Santorum ended his chances," since November.

“Every time I try to get with the program and get behind Newt, he starts blabbing about Romney’s bank accounts or his investments or some nonsense and drives me right back to Santorum.”

We want to believe in Newt but then he turns into McCain by
1) bashing finance sector
2) this ‘humane’ immigration business
3) previous positions on the environment
and just the general temperament which is similar to McCain. And I think if Romney wins, it will be because of his temperament vs Gingrich and not their respective ideas.

Rick Santorum has never saw a war he didn’t like who a country he didnt want to overrun. A Santorum presidency would see US Forces in 500 countries around the world versus 175. He does alot of tough talking for someone who wouldn’t know how to shoot a BB gun.

And for the Record, I’m still a Perry backer.
I have not decided on the remaining field.

Actually it was one of Romney’s better debates. But I think Santorum did the best.

My Rating:

Santorum
Romney
Gingrich
Paul

Pretty much the way I saw it. I kept waiting for Newt to take charge. He had a few good answers. He was terrible on the illegal grandparents and the moon colony.

Wolf Blitzed sucked from the first question on. The debate seemed more about Newt and Mitt explaining their attacks om each other.

I wondered why CNN allowed audience response. It’s obvious now they wanted it to work for Mitt.

I agree! If Newt had Santorum’s votes in time, he’d clobber Romney despite all the rigging being done against him. Santorum’s a hypocrite just as much as Mittens is. He’s a spoiler and he comes off as sanctimonious , snarky and sullen when he doesn’t get enough attention.

I’m saying Santorum can’t win the nomination. He can only throw his support to Mitt or Newt.

There is no simpler test. Which is it?

I think Newt gives good points of fact, but I really, really wish he would say, “And that's why you should vote for me, and I ask for your vote.”

He leaves too much to the audience to draw their own conclusion. He gives the Sheeple too much credit. Sheeple need to be told what to do. He needs to ask for the vote, every single time he says a closing.

He didn't ask for the vote. He framed the election, as an important election, one that needs to draw a contrast with Obama, but he didn't say “I am the biggest contrast on the stage, and therefore I am the most electable, and therefore, I ask for your vote on Tuesday.”

THAT is how to close a candidate's speech when running for office.
