Newt Gingrich leads Mitt Romney among Republicans, he is the weakest of the Republican candidates tested against President Obama, according to an NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll released Thursday evening. Gingrich leads Romney 37 percent to 28 percent nationally among registered Republicans likely to vote in the primaries; Rick Santorum is in third with 18 percent, and Ron Paul is fourth with 12 percent. Gingrich has built its advantage by consolidating the heart and soul of the Republican party: very conservative voters, the South and the Tea Party. Though Gingrich is the preferred candidate of GOP primary voters, though, he performs the worst of all Republican candidates tested against Obama, including Santorum. Read the full poll results here

Neither Mitt nor Gingrich can beat 0bama0

I agree. I can't stand Mitt and the country will see him as another McCain wimp with no ability to fight obama.

Newt is too hyperactive and bounces all over the place. Most of the country hates him.

Paul is too crazy and Santorum is just not catching fire.

I hate these 'debates' that make Republicans look like fools who spend too much time ripping each other.

Obama goes out there and lies, promises goodies, doesn't mention the actual 'state of the union, has no solution for our problems, and nationally people think he did a great job with the speech.

I am usually a very optimistic guy, but right now we need a miracle.

"It is my considered opinion that Herman Cain was the only Republican that could beat 0bama0."

Not really because he turned out to be a joke.

Agreed. I might live in a county that’s different from most (mostly Republican but way to the left). Most people around me are either disgruntled with politics in general (those avoiding dependence on government for income) or clinging to the contemporary political debt regime (those dependent on government for income, saying that the economy’s fine, etc.).

The latter group prevails, BTW: animal worship, extreme environmentalism, hundreds of head of cattle confiscated from old folks, no new small businesses allowed, no new small houses allowed, etc.

Cain would have been a superb candidate... IMHO it had nothing to do with skin color.

Amen.

You and I have congruent perspectives on the matter.

Nobody could have done more damage to the Democrat Plantation than a Conservative, Christian, Black AMERICAN. Even more, nobody could have done more to lift up Black Americans, and all Americans, than a Conservative, Christian Black AMERICAN.

I voted for Allen Keyes in the 2000 primary. I took a test to see which of the candidates was most aligned with my perspectives, and Allen came in way ahead of anybody else running that year. Bush and McCain scored WAY below Keyes.

Let’s PRAY that Congressman Allen WEST will run next time. He is a no-nonsense retired COLONEL who commands respect just by his comportment and can brilliantly articulate the Conservative Perspective without a teleprompter. I totally love the guy! He is THE BEST role model of any ancestry that I’ve ever seen in the Congress. Ever.

Good luck with that.

I’ll vote for the guy, but I doubt he can overcome the 0bama0 machine.

My water is as pure as it gets in nature, from an artesian well. Crystal clear, clean, no chems, no bugs.

We’ll see how crazy I am on Nov 3.

Like I said, I’ll vote for the guy, but I don’t think he can overcome the 0bama0 machine.

No. I trust my gut. I don’t even have a TV.

All things remaining as they are today, Newt will lose to 0bama0.

I will vote for Newt if he wins the nomination.

And I will be pleasantly surprised if he wins the general election.

But his appeal is not deep enough or strong enough to overcome his baggage, with the Left and the Right, and especially the mushy middle.

Many on the right will look at things like his lapse of judgement with Pelosi as an insurmountable flaw.

All of the Left will promote and believe the lie that he was drummed out of Congress for ethics violations.

The mushy middle will not be very motivated for either 0bama0 or Newt, so the race is likely to be close. But the DemonRATs always have ballot boxes and voting machines in reserve to help overcome close elections.

Many leftist College students will be voting at least twice. Once in their home towns by absentee ballot, and at least once in their college towns. Same for the democrat “snowbirds”.

In order to win, the Republicans need a very strong candidate. It is my opinion that they just don’t have one.

I would add that, after they serve their time without parole, they should be exiled or never allowed to vote again.

But we are preaching to the choir, and nothing will be done about it. It’s done brazenly. They joke about it. Brag about it. Nobody does anything. Not even a slap on the wrist.
