Newt: “I have no idea what motivates Ann Coulter”
The Right Scoop ^ | January 27th, 2012 | Dan Cleary

Posted on 01/28/2012 9:06:07 AM PST by Hotlanta Mike

This is Newt Gingrich on a phone interview with Fox News, discussing the recent attacks on him by Ann Coulter among other prominent conservatives. Newt says he’s not sure what motivates Coulter’s attacks on him (other than the fact that she’s obviously in Romney’s corner), and calls her part of the “old order”, resistant to bold change in Washington.

Make of that what you will.

Questions of electability may affect the candidates we nominate as much as ideological concerns.

It can’t be ELECTABILITY...

Romney’s negative ratings soaring among independents

That ‘back pain’ pill popping weasel Joe Scarborough was more likely the guy who outed Hume and Paxton … but there has been lots of speculation tossed Newt’s direction given FOX’s stilted coverage of Newt

I posted this several days ago on FR, so I'm just going to copy, paste and link it:

"I was shocked to see this cr*p come up on FR yesterday. In trying to chase down where it was coming from, the only internet site I found with a recent discussion of it was the DUmpster. Made me wonder just how it jumped from there to here. Hmmm.

Anyway, there is absolutely zero, zilch, nada verification or confirmation anywhere ever that Sandy Hume was gay. There is zero evidence anywhere that Rep Paxon is gay. This vile hoax was begun (and, I thought, ended) in 1997 by Ann Northrup, who printed the unproven story in her column for the newspaper "Lesbian and Gay New York". She was a vile woman, who acknowledged at the time that she liked to "out" people for political purposes. With this fabrication she tried to tarnish the new (then conservative) Fox News, where Sandy Hume had recently become employed, and two conservative congressmen, Rep Paxon and Rep Gingrich. Other MSM would have loved the story to be true, and they tried like hell to verify it, but there was simply no there there.

I think the DUmpster is trying to float this old story again the same way they wouldn't let the story die about Sarah Palin not being Trig's mother. It's the same thing all over again, imo."

Well, electability was how she came to her decision according to some accounts.

As of yesterday, Gingrich was still weaker than Romney (or Santorum) when polled against Obama.

According to the same poll, though, all the GOP candidates have higher disapproval than approval ratings.

After making my last post to you, I noticed that you had pasted your #48 on 5 threads today.

I'm going to ask the admin to consider removing those posts and the link you've used to the vile leftist rag gawker.

The story is some 15 years old, was thoroughly debunked at the time, and continues to spam rumor-mongering about Brit Hume's deceased son, used to try to sling poo at Newt Gingrich.

It really doesn't belong on FR. I'm hoping you agree, LB.

I do not need the insinuation that I am not a conservative because of my screen name; my history on the board shows I am not a shill for ANY candidate...I’ve even had a few public interactions with Jim Robinson, the owner of this forum.

Jim himself has been allowing Ann’s columns on FR even though she clearly has a VERY different opinion on the primary season.

I think your apparent portrayal of Ann as a “deranged fiend” is incorrect. And I *know* any assumption that I am not a true conservative is incorrect.

I think Ann is suffering from the “I’m 50, but still relevant!” woman thing. Sorry ladies flame away! :)

Colter is in a midlife crisis because all her old ‘flames’ have moved on, but she has nowhere to move on to.

I’m a peon, not a “very important person.” I’m not trying to start a fight with you. But this isn’t just my opinion. The only print source that carried the rumor was a 1997 piece in “Lesbian and Gay New York” by Ann Northrup. Fact. Northrup, in contemporaneous interviews, acknowledged that she liked to “out” people for political purposes. That’s a fact. Her hit piece was never verified, although many MSM sources tried at the time. That’s true.

Why perpetuate hateful gossip that smears the deceased son of Brit Hume? And, though I have political disagreements with Bill Paxon and his wife, why perpetuate malicious and false gossip about him?

The part that is my opinion is that this 15-year-old fabrication has resurfaced at this time solely for the purpose of inciting gay activists to attack Newt Gingrich. Maybe this story has been spoonfed to Ann and Drudge by the Romney campaign, and maybe they believe it, I don’t know. It could be like the Abram’s hit piece on Newt vis a vis Reagan that some are speculating (and I believe) was spoonfed to simultaneous media sources by the Romney campaign.

In any case, imo, since it’s a fact that the story has never been verified, was originated by a flaming gay agenda magazine 15 years ago, and it’s particularly malicious towards Brit Hume’s son, it doesn’t belong in the political conversation.

I’m sorry you disagree.

My point exactly .. I was pointing to the nexus and motive of those supporting Romney and bashing Newt .. FOX, Romney, Coulter, Drudge

DC is run by gays ... no slur ... it's a reality

Why in God’s name would you run to the owner of this site because someone was picking on you?? This baby stuff drives me crazy. You picked your screen name as I did mine. And sometimes I regret my screen name - people think I’m an elderly old maid or - occasionally - indulge in a little bit of anti-semitism. But it is so easy to simply chalk it up and move on to the next insult. Why do so many freepers - these days - seem to have such thin skins?

I got your point. I had forgotten this story completely - almost as much as I’ve forgotten the annoying Ms. Molinari. You were just trying to connect the dots.

How is Washington & Lee? We visited the campus about 10 years ago and loved it. I was wondering if it was a good school. I had to go looking for the burial spot of Lee’s horse, Traveller!

Miss, it isn’t being thin skinned, it is showing folks who question my bona fides that I am not a “bot”.

Jim and I have had a fine relationship as we have had a back and forth about the race...as I have declared many times I am undecided.

The real problem I see on the board is not thin skins but an automatic labeling of someone who doesn’t go along with the crowd as something less than conservative or committed to the cause of conservatism.

If you haven’t noticed the conditions I just described, consider me surprised.

I just don’t understand why - when we all post anonymously on this board - you would need to “report” someone for questioning your bona fides. But you are not the only one. It’s become epidemic on FR. It’s just as much a problem as the one you site.
