Newt Gingrich: I am the 'legitimate heir to the Reagan movement'

Relevant excerpt----

“I am not running for president to manage the decay of the United States to the satisfaction of the establishment. And I am not running for president of the United States to make the Wall Street elite and the Washington elite happy,” he said. “I am running to change both groups on behalf of the people of the United States of America.”

“The truth is we have been served badly, the American people, by the establishment in both parties. Let’s be clear about it, it’s both parties, and it’s time someone stood up for hard-working, tax-paying Americans and said ‘Enough!’ ” Gingrich roared. “And if that makes the old order uncomfortable, my answer is, ‘Good.’

Now, he's on message!

Win or lose, Fla can form the impetus for Newt to win the nomination because it has smoked out the opposition. People we thought to be our friends- are not our friends, are they? Just like the bank bailouts, what we have viscerally learned is that elites favor those in their class. Sad truth, former favorites Coulter, Drudge, Connie Mach et al- actually have little respect for the grass roots folks who helped make their fortunes– to them we are “Hobbits”.

Palin, Perry, Cain, Thompson are now in for the people- Newt has to be committed to inspire the insurgency.

As Newt told Greta, "Insurgents always beat the Establishment."

LoL ...... Mewt Ringrich an insurgent? That’s a laugh. He’s part of the problem ... lobbying ... Ethics Violations ... womanizing ... he’s been INSIDE the Beltway too long ... he’s just like Nitt Gomney ... EXCEPT he can sweet talk people into believing he’s an ‘insurgent’ and the disciple of Reagan.

If Ronald Reagan was alive, he’d be pointing at Rick Santorum NOT and Mewt or Nitt.

if only he had said this at that last debate, instead he believed the lying media when they talking about “angry Newt”

I LOVE angry Newt! we are made as hell out here and we want someone to FIGHT for us!

Nice Newt = epic fail like in Iowa

Angry Newt = epic win like in South Carolina

Newt may be an expert on ancient history, but he needs pay a little more attention to recent history, because he is in for a world of hurt now since there isn't another debate for almost a month.

While I still have some reservations about Newt Gingrich, he is pushing my buttons with his speeches - and, I suspect, reaching a lot of fed-up conservatives. If he continues with this approach, he should win the Florida primary.

I will vote for Newt over Mitt with no hesitation but I wish he would stop this insurgent nonsense. He is the definition of a beltway power broker insider. He had me with his policies - now stopping insulting my intelligence with this outsider nonsense. I understand the value of experience - it is not a bad thing.

Do you need a picture or are you a tool ?

Obviously you are trying to split the vote by opposing Newt and Rick.... Bad try

If true Gingrich would still be in power, rather than a small businessman.

The establishment hated Ronald Reagan more than they hate Newt. Your comment demonstrates a very limited education.

Well I am definitely not smart enough to make sense of your knee-jerk stupidity, since I posted specifically about Gingrich being out of power and you babbled about Reagan.

You got a halfway decent explanation for that smart guy?

The history of American politics is men like Newt smoothly moving between the private and public arenas. Watch what happens when a Republican is back in the WH - the WH staff will be full of people who left private industry for public service. I don’t think it is wrong - I want businessmen making economic decisions.

he’s been INSIDE the Beltway too long

Yes he has and there was a time here when everyone felt the same way about these career politicians.........what happened?

Except with Newt it wasn’t smooth. He got re-elected and resigned the next day because of GOP “cannibals.”

That Palin sides with Gingrich should tell you something.

Newt sure is hitting all the hot buttons. He has changed from the last time he was in office. If one looks at all the video on YouTube his true color is a RINO.

If you look at it from point of view of the Establishment then you can see he’s clearly an outsider. The obvious part is the vitriol thrown at him FROM the Establishment.

Santorum is the worst empty suit out of them all! His brightest moments are when he is sliming his opponents. However, he does this, and doesn’t offer any alternative ideas of any note. He has nothing new or interesting. Newt’s record is impeccable, but you’re looking at it through lenses that have bought into the rhetoric of Santorum.

Gingrich posing as an insurgent is truly laughable.

And what’s even more laughable is the number of FReepers who believe it.
