A new InsiderAdvantage poll conducted Sunday night of likely Republican voters in the state of Florida shows a significant surge for Newt Gingrich.

The poll has Mitt Romney leading with 36 percent of voters, followed by Gingrich at 31 percent.

The Sunday results of 646 likely GOP voters are as follows: Romney 36 percent Gingrich 31 percent Santorum 12 percent Paul 12 percent Other/Undecided 9 percent "The race will be tighter than expected," Matt Towery, chief pollster of InsiderAdvantage told Newsmax.

Towery noted that his poll showed a surge for Romney on Wednesday, with him leading Gingrich by 8 points. The InsiderAdvantage poll was among the first to show Romney's resurgence after his dismal showing in the S. Carolina primary.

The InsiderAdvantage poll was also the first to show Gingrich's rise in S. Carolina and accurately forecast his win there.

"The trend is favoring Gingrich," Towery said, noting that while Romney's lead was still outside the margin of error of 3.8 percent, "It's not by much.".........

According to the article, this poll was conducted on Sunday evening, while all the other polls were conducted through Saturday at the latest.

This poll would be the first to reflect any bump from the Cain endorsement and Sarah Palin’s comments last night.

But you’re right, we need to see a trend.

I agree with you that Romney came across as vindictive. In the Frank Luntz focus group after the debate, the group were strongly with Newt for trying to get Blitzer off the nonsense question about Romney’s question. It was a setup question that no matter how Newt responds, he looks negative. Romney never had a question about his cheap shot on Reagan’s diary and only one mention of Newt. By then Michael Reagan and Jeffery Lord and the video of Nancy awarding Newt on behalf of Pres. Reagan in ‘95.

Romney only got to 40% in NH, his neighboring state. I think the polls we are seeing are lagging back to Thu and Fri, and this one clearly has shown results of the strong weekend Newt is having. Also, I finally received the first anti-Romney mailer yesterday from Newt’s supporters’ PAC. I have gotten tons of junk from Romney and his PAC for weeks. Still, with all that money blown, this guy is struggling to get to 40%. Romney is weak. If Newt had 1/3 of the money Romney has, this would be a blowout for Newt. We will see...

Same old playbook, yes. And we don’t want to do the same thing and get the same results.

Yes, and I think we think Newt gets it on some level. He’s been in there long enough to know all the history and the nuances. He’s not perfect and we are becomong okay with that. I don’t know.

Newt should make this offer to Santorum:

If Rick calls on his voters to vote Newt on Tuesday, and Newt wins, Newt will split the 50 FL delegates with him 25 apiece.

As it stands now neither of them will get any delegates and Romney will get all 50. Instead, if Rick thinks strategically he can pick up 25 delegates. He’ll be 2nd behind Newt with 31 to Newt’s 54. Romney will be 3rd with 15.

Newt and Rick can then fight it out in upcoming states. But for both campaigns, Newt beating Romney is the best thing. Santorum can make it happen, or at least a much better chance of it happening.

It’s a very good deal for Rick. He gets 25 delegates more than he stands to get. He gets the gratitude and thanks of tons of conservatives and tea partiers, he becomes a hero.

If you know anyone in the Newt campaign, make this suggestion to them and pass it on. It could be a game-changer and really turn this around.

If they try that, it will be Mitch Daniels.

I hope Santorum urges his supporters to vote Newt on Tues!

If I were a FL voter, I would vote for Gingrich even though I prefer Santorum. I'm really disenchanted with Romney

Really?

I drove for an hour and endured Fox News declaring Romney ahead by 8 in one poll and 16 in another.

Good grief.

Y’all need to ante up and keep Newt in this.

$5 is all it takes.

I’ll be maxed out on my contribution by April. Then I guess it’s on to PAC’s.

Although isn’t the number early voted in FL around 40% or so (I remember it was close to 20 two weeks ago) ? If Gingrich can close it with a late surge he will have momentum for sure but a win outright unfortunately almost seems a mathematical impossibility at some point.

I hope not Daniels. He has no charisma and for me, his speech was bland.

Ever since Romney has ran for president it has been his style attacking republicans. He did this in 2008, and he is doing it now.

Quick, what characterizes Obama in the way he runs. Attack and destroy those on his side against him.

Right or wrong, it’s very likely that when many Romney-leaning voters go to the polls Tuesday, last thoughts about his church will sway them back to Newt Gingerich. Not saying that’s appropriate, but it could well be a reality.

Romney is finished. He should drop out and endorse Gingrich. It's time Mitt, do the right thing.

I am so sorry to hear that. My goodness, Hotair had up all day that her father reported that she had made a miraculous recovery. I pray that it is not that “rally” the terminally ill often exhibit in the neighborhood of 24 hours before passing. I wonder if she is still critical or serious? I never heard about either, actually.

I just wonder how you seek the meat grinder for the presidency with a tiny love like that at home, said to be destined for such a short little life. We are all praying for her. “ MERCY, LORD, MERCY.”

Politically, however, Santorum the pol missed his chance to get out now in time to help Newt much. His own numbers are down around his ankles in Florida, and Newt has become a CAUSE now, so Rick is going nowhere.

FYI Romney 40% in NH.

Most people don't know that Jon Huntsman is his cousin (Think the grandfather in Mexico with five wives)

The Huntsman family fortune is intertwined with Romney's Bain.

IMO Huntsman was a straw candidate to catch the ABM vote so the other candidates would not get them.

That was a great interview. Did you see afterwards where she said she was getting all kinds of hate mail from Romney people saying she was a shrill for Newt and it wasn't fair that she didn't have a bus tour with Romney. She said (paraphrase) Romney's people have short memories because she did a bus tour with him in South Carolina.

Romney supporters definitely don't want Newt getting his message out.

RomneyBorgs=GOP-E.
