Ten Things You Should Do If You’re An “Anybody But Mitt” Republican, And One You Should Not
Hot Air ^ | February 1, 2012 | Mitch Berg

Let’s say, hypothetically, for just a moment here, that some of the pundits are right – that Romney’s landslide victory in Florida means he really might be inevitable.

I’ve heard more than a few of you Newt and Paul supporters out there; “If Romney wins, I’m staying home on election day”.

While I’m not especially passionate about Romney just yet, I’ll reiterate what an awful idea this is. Don’t go there, people.

I’ve got ten suggestions for much more-productive responses.

Establishment to conservatives: You will take this medicine and like it. The more I read these types of articles the more I am inclined to vote 3rd party in November.

46 more States to go. Willard is not inevitable.

It could be that we may be headed towards a brokered convention.

I would rather have the devil I know for 4 years than the devil who is not a conservative for 8 years.

Newt Gingrich – Rhetoric vs Reality

In his own words, is Newt a Conservative or a Progressive?

I cannot vote for Romney.
I would rather have Obama.
It sounds weird.

BUT, both will continue to destroy America. We have a better chance, albeit a small one, for victories against Obama than Romney. Of course,Boehner and Mcconnell need to go for us to have a better chance.

I’ll probably vote for myself as president.

W/Romney as candidate, I’m only interested in senate races.

2010 tea party landslide in house, where most seats up for grab.

Only a third of senate seats were up for grabs then.

2012 can finsh the job for the senate.

Presidency lost. Look elsewhere.

Romney as governor - raised taxes and only cut spending by cutting payments to localities.

My prediction w/Romney as president:

Higher taxes and reduced payments to states.

Describing a 46% win as a landslide is BS - stopped reading right there.

I fell into the 3’rd party trap in 92 and 96 and will never do so again until we have runoff elections for all public offices including president. Ideally, nobody should ever have to fear to vote his first choice, at least on a first ballot, and nobody should ever hold any public office with less than 50% of the vote. But we don’t live in an ideal world yet.

There is not a dimes worth of difference between Romney and BHO.
If Romney is the nominee, I will not vote for president, other offices absolutely, just not president.

5.Remember The Alternative - You think four more years of Obama would be better than four to eight of Romney?

Well both are lilberal sacks of crap.....but with Obama you KNOW that it’s only 4 more years.

Decisions, decisions.

The choice on the part of the vested interests to employ the methods of brute force, specifically "negative campaigning," (a method designed to reduce overall voter participation) makes a request that voters participate something of a unique point of view.

I agree with this sentiment completely. Though I doubt the rock-skulled Republican establishment will EVER figure it out, it would be better to have the Republicans in control of both houses and NOT elect an Obama-lite RINO as president. Of course, in order for this to be of any use, the Republicans in Congress would have to have some actual guts and brains, not to mention principles. And as we know all too well by now, the vast majority of them don't.

It's really a no-win situation for conservatives.

I will vote, but not for Romney. Conservatism will be set back by a Romney win more than by an Obama win.

10.Checks, Balances. So what if the GOP had no candidate at all, and we were looking at a victory for Obama by default today? What would you be doing now, all you good conservatives? Working to make sure the conservatives hold the House and take the Senate? OK – so let’s say Romney really is as bad as you all want us to believe he is. And let’s say he’s inevitable. Your choices then are “stay home” or “do what you’d do if Obama was going to win – try to negate his power and influence by taking control of Congress”. Why, precisely, should you not then be working to flip the Senate and extend our lead in the House/ Because the opportunity is there, folks, to not just flip Congress completely against either Obama or a hypothetical “moderate” Romney, but flip it to a version of the GOP that, so far, has been pretty Beltway-proof, and fairly dedicated to the mission for which they were sent to GOP by the Tea Party and a newly-resurgent conservative movement in the first place; togovern like conservatives. Keeping them that way is our job. Provided we don’t “stay home” and “teach everyone a lesson”. Because the only “lesson” you “teach” by staying home is that you’re unreliable and marginal. Don’t be that.

#10 is the only good piece of advice the rest are just Romney sh*t.

Good article. I know how disappointed many of us are (I was solidly in the Rick Perry camp and am still ticked off), but I don’t understand how anyone who calls himself a Republican and/or a Conservative could possible “sit this one out” and let Obama have another four years. Honest to goodness — I would vote for Charles Manson over the joke we have in the White House right now. We’re tearing ourselves apart here, and the Liberals are just standing back, enjoying it all. If Newt wins, I’ll vote for him; if Mitt wins, I’ll vote for him — heck, if Ron Paul wins, I’ll vote for him. But let’s stop demonizing our candidates and start emphasizing positive reasons to vote for our favorites. And maybe they’ll start doing the same.

I will not vote for Romney, because YES he is more dangerous than Obama long term. Trust me, he will do things to the left that Obama could never accomplish. I will vote third party or not at all.
