In a new national radio ad released Wednesday, Rick Santorum lambasted Newt Gingrich over the former House speaker's declining poll numbers and second place finish in Florida's primary.

"Despite spending millions, Newt Gingrich went from a big lead to a big defeat. Why? Because voters discovered Gingrich wasn't a true conservative," the narrator says in the ad.

The intellectual quality of FR has dimmed this year.

I've been posting on Free Republic for several years and I've seen that identical comment posted many times over the years.

If it was true all the Free Republic posters would be posting from their tree tops by now.

Don't insult us like that.

“Graham knows something....Expect it to come out...”

I saw that and was shocked too. But after thinking about it Lindsay Graham represents S Carolina and S Carolina voted overwelmingly for Newt in the primary. He is probably just playing to his own constituency.

I did not realize that Graham was part of the coup against Newt in the late 90’s and Boehner too. Those sob’s haven’t done anything conservative since Newt left congress. That says alot about the coup.

On another note, The Glass Steagall Act was repealed after Newt left as well, a main cause of the housing and banking crisis. No wonder the RINO’s are scared to death of Newt coming back into power.

I wish Rick would focus his attacks on the liberal candidates: Romney and Obama.

Amen! Rick is burning bridges by doing this. This strategy didn't work for Michelle Bachmann when she attacked other Conservatives, and it will not work for Santorum.

They swore that Bachmann was working for Mitt....well guess what? We just found out they were WRONG.

Bachmann did herself no favors by attacking Conservatives with ridiculous attacks while seemingly giving Romney a pretty free ride. That crap with Cain and the "6-6-6" stuff is just one example, but there were others. Go read the debate threads where people were asking why Bachmann was going after Conservatives with crazy attacks and leaving Romney alone.

Out of all of the candidates on stage with her, Romney was the most opposite of her, and yet she went after people who shared similar positions.

you are delusional if you think Santorum would win if Newt dropped out.
