Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney for president Thursday, saying he's impressed by the Republican candidate's debate prowess and believes he could easily beat President Obama in November.

"Mitt is tough. He's smart. He's sharp. He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country that we all love," Trump said in Las Vegas, telling the candidate to "go out and get 'em."

The real estate mogul, speaking briefly with reporters before the announcement, said that even though he "never knew" Romney before the race began, he's come to know him in recent months.

"His general attitude and the last two debates were very impressive," Trump said.

He also cited Romney's position on China, calling the former Massachusetts governor

I can see why you would say that. I am only bragging about my ability to see the politics realistically and not through “head up in the cloud” types that are very common here. I am not bragging any other way.

I can well understand the rush one gets when they see their views validated by breaking events, and I'm not at all criticizing your abilities, they are in fact admirable.

Now could you perhaps forward seven winning lotto numbers to me for tomorrow's draw? Thanks very much. ;)

I don’t see TV much, so I can only guess it’s because he’s brash and opinionated and, these days, that’s what passes for intelligent political talk.

How I miss William F. Buckley, Jr. and “Firing Line”!

While I admit to enjoying the fuss he stirred up with Obama’s birth certificate, I never made the mistake of thinking he was anything but an attention whore rich enough to buy his own microphone.

I was not particularly thrilled by the treads yesterday that said he was going to endorse Newt, I am not particularly upset about the his decision to endorse Mitt.

Really people, can you imagine ANYONE saying “Ohhhh, The Donald has endorsed Romney! That settles it for me!”

And, seriously, can you imagine Romney standing up in front of a crowd bragging about bagging Trump’s endorsement? Heck, Mitt would probably have preferred he endorse Newt! The last thing he needs is to have everyone reminded about how rich he is.

I heard that Trump said if Romney wins the nomination he would not run as an independent. Did he really say this?

If he did then anyone still supporting Trump needs to wake up. This guy is working with the left to influence the election and get Obama reelected. That little kabuki theater stunt with the birth certificate awhile back should have been enough to convince any conservative with more than a room temperature IQ.

Trumps political beliefs are whatever suits him on a particular day.....

Well that explains it then...so does Romney.

Not so sure iif this helps or hinders either candidate though Trump stands to gain no matter how he plays it...after all he IS a player. Makes ya wanna go hummmmm.

It doesn’t figure to me, at all! I thought for sure Trump knew mitt is weak. I wonder exactly what is going on behind the scene. 3rd party - I see it coming.

I believe Paula Abdul has endorsed Jim Beam.

I like your comment very much.

That said there is really only one political maneuver that will trump the Trump endorsement...the endorsement of Newt by Palin. That would take the Romney endorsement by Trump off the front pages immediately. (BTW, I've never been a big Palin fan or Newt fan, but Romney isn't the person we need in the White House.)

Respectfully submitted on this date:

“Why is it whenever you post something about Myth Romney I get the suspicion you really support him?”

Simple answer, I support and defend every one of the possible republican nominees. Have defended Palin, Cain, Newt, Rick, Perry, Romney.

In this case I am more reminding us not to adopt liberal leftist arguments.

Romney’s biggest problem in a nutshell is he was a liberal on many issues in Mass. Therefore my distrust of him is from a conservative direction. I’m willing to accept him as a conversion/ political opportunist or whatever he is if need be. Meaning if he is nominated.

Have said many times Santorum is the true consistent conservative up there.

Protect GS - didn't think of that.

Go Newt. If not, defeat Romney. If not, I already live on a sailboat. I already lived through a mormon hell, I won’t live in a mormon country.

Now honestly, I think your concerns about living in a 'mormon country' are misplaced, even IF Mitt-Witt somehow made it to the White House, he is no more going to turn this Christian nation into a Mormon state than 0bama-lama-ding-dong will institute Sharia law from coast to coast.

We Americans have three things going for us, as a long ago bumper sticker once said, "God, Guns, and Guts Kept America Free, Let's Keep All Three", and that means the Judeo-Christian God, not the Mormon 'god' who was once a man, whose teachings advance the idea that when we die, we'll get our own planet, be promoted elevated to godhood, all of that clap-trap, bottom line? That ain't happenin' anymore than Islamo-muzzies get their 72 virgins after dying as a 'martyr to Mo'.

I do however, admire your choice of living quarters - a good friend of mine in Canada has told me of three retired diesel submarines in Halifax that are tied up waiting to be scrapped, each one can be had for $60,000 - if I had the extra cash I'd sure think about it, living on the water is very very cool, living in a submarine is even MORE cool.

Happy voyages FRiend!

Do we really take Trump seriously? This is political theater ....I'd have prefered he support Newt...but grateful that most people don't vote according to endorsements. Rather the politicians play them in the game...check..checkmate sort of thingy.

Wait til Hollywood comes center stage for Bambi! The news pundits will have them on simply for the ratings....

Three ring circus...and round and round they go!

HAHA, LOL. Would be funny to go back to those "Trump to endorse Newt" threads and find all the people who thought Trump was great then and suddenly think he is a pile of rat dung now.

Hey, I resemble that remark!! :) LOL.

I hope it turns into a negative for Mitt.

the donald is looking forward to the 2016 race... his show won’t be sustainable and he’ll be ready to take the reigns...

mitt will not get the nomination from the people... he’s steadily at 30-40 % and if he walks into a brokered convention, and gets it, the people will know the fix is in.

newt isn’t a shoe in, and will bring a lot of fence sitters out to vote for the won, but i can’t see anyone not being able to beat the cause of our constriction...

i will vote for mitt over obama, but it will mean the end of the republican party... after obama is out... only tea party conservatives from then on.

I hope he is not mad, and if he is, I hope he has sense enough to swallow it and move on doing what he is good at...articulating the conservative agenda and the big plans for taking our country back in a confident, yet friendly way...like Reagan did.

If he gets mad and acts on it, the Romney and Trumpwill have played him like a fiddle.

Newt does not need Trump. For Heaven’s sake, Trump has no morals when it comes to fidelity and is a person who is going to expect pay back and loyalty for “gracing” you with his support.

We do not need Trump.
