Completed 25 push-ups on Ellen DeGeneres show beating the TV host
Michelle Obama has been touring California promoting her health agenda, so when she was challenged to a push-up contest on a TV show, she quickly dropped to the floor to prove she practiced what she preached.
The challenge began when daytime TV host Ellen DeGeneres asked the U.S First Lady on her show: 'How many push-ups can you do? Because I like to do a push-up.'
'I don't know I can do some - can you? I know you've got these back issues,' Mrs Obama teased.
To which the TV host stood up and took off her jacket, and a smiling Mrs Obama, who has completed push-ups with Archbishop Desmond Tutu stood up ready to take on the challenge.
During the show, Mrs Obama also revealed some bedroom secrets regarding husband Barack.
He doesn't pick up his socks.
'He thinks he's neat but he has people who help him. I'm like it's not you that's neat. It's the people who pick up your socks. Those are the neat people,' she told DeGeneres.
She also joined host the TV host in a boogie for the benefit of the audience.

The woman has zero class, she is an embarrassment.
I’d say she did cheat a bit on the depth of her pushups, but that is impressive for a woman. Not that most women couldn’t do that if they worked on it, but they’d have to work on it and most women don’t.
Way too many American women—people’s mothers and grandmothers—have both their lifespans and their quality of life shortened due to lack of exercise. Osteoporosis-caused broken hips are the needless beginning of the end for too many older women.
And in that sense it is IMO a positive if a First Lady—and yes, even Michelle, can expand our idea of what is ‘ladylike’.
Won’t diss Moochelle on this one. 25 pushups for a woman is exceptional and she is a good example of physical fitness for women. Women should train for strength just like men.
For you guys saying this isn’t “ladylike”, you need to get out more.
Pullups are very, very hard for women: their arm strength to lower body weight is almost always off.
Although the arms are certainly involved a pull up primarily engages the back muscles, particularly the latissimus dorsi. (your "lats") They are the muscles that give the upper body that "V" shape when viewed from behind.
Did Ellen munch the carpet?
When I took basic in the Army you had to hit the ground(floor)with your chest or it didn’t count. And you had to count them out loud, if you failed to go all the way down the DI disallowed that one. Back in the day I could do 100 push ups, I believe the record for push ups is somewhere in the thousands.
That may be, but my sense is that with women the limiting factor is usually the arms. Could be wrong or it may be both and I suppose it would be safer simply to say “upper body strength”.
Somebody please tell me what a racist gesture is.

Why just the other day, Jan Brewer pointed at the Wee Wee on the tarmac at Sky Harbor Airport and Rev. Jesse and Rev. Al went off like a roman candle. That was the ultimate sign of disrespect.
So, I figured that in the interest of racial equality, the same standards should be applied to all.
Ellen was going down much farther than Michelle and obvious let her win.
However, she’s a fit lady and, if I didn’t despise her, that would have been a cute segment.
But since I do, I found it disgusting.
I’m now going to see how many pushups I can do.
Back later if I don’t faint.
Okay, I did three. But it took me a while to get back up.
