I just switched to http://www.yippy.com for my search engine. Seems to be vastly more family friendly, and interested in my privacy.
Conservatives/ conservative groups would have to be certifiable grade A idiots to get in bed with Obama’s favored company Google.

Seemingly magnanimous gesture of Google, but everybody on Google+ knows they’re being spied on now. NOT the place I would want political strategizing to be.
This is libertarianism run amok. I don’t know any society, even one intensely gay friendly, that has gone as far as these US states in hijacking the structure of marriage. And this not all that long after polls of the gay (or sad?) societies consistently said they were not interested in marriage, they were just interested in their private flings.
Here in L.A, we have “massive” billboards all over about HIV with even one of a cartoon with 2 homos talking about “love”. I ain’t in Kansas anymore. They just push this garbage until it becomes white noise.
For those concerned about privacy, STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE!

Utterly gagulous. Don’t know if this is just another effect, or maybe a contributing cause, to California losing its mind. Maybe both. The Golden State has become the “Whatever” state. (Not that the Illinois I am in is much more virtuous. The “Land of Lincoln” probably would not be able to stand one minute of the real Lincoln if he could reappear.)
Or at least, use a different browser than your main one (like, ironically enough, Google Chrome with its “porn mode” that forgets everything between sessions, keeps no visited site history, and shares nothing with other browsers).
It’s more liberal than Chicago. Now they are assuming we are all a bunch of fags here. And these billboards are within a TWO block radius of the Kodak Theater where the Oscars will be in weeks.

As a Google Chrome user, I can tell you that even after doing a hard reboot - turning the power off then on again - it will restore all windows/sites that were previously open if you tell it to. Also, it does indeed keep a history of searches and web pages - you only have to hold down the back or forward arrow.

Going into the “porn” mode (they actually call it private browsing, with a little icon of a spook) does away with the history on the machines I’ve tried it in. But even if it kept it so that you could bring it up again in Chrome if you happened to do a hard shutdown during the Chrome session, the only browser that could see it would be Chrome. Firefox, Internet Explorer, or any of the specialized Linux or Mac browsers would be oblivious to what had happened in Chrome. I’ll have to test for the exact details.
I stay as far away as possible from anything “Google” and AOL.

Google was on the news today bragging about their activity tracking abilities, to “better target” advertising.
I don’t like having Big Brother looking over my shoulder while I’m on the internet!
It’s all controlled with Google through a big cookiefest, which looks over your shoulder, but only from behind. If you have your browser forget cookies after every session, even Google can only learn so much. If you subscribe to Gmail, then they can learn a lot — but no more than any other ISP that hosts email. Google is cuter about it though and some of their ads based on my stored emails are amusing.
AOL certainly earned its nickname of AO-hell through its intensely nannified interface.

Go buy a USB Wi-Fi adapter, pay cash, don't use a credit card. You may even want to wear a disguise and park your car around the corner out of sight of any video surveillance of the store. This way, your access device will have a MAC address that cannot be traced to you.
Download and burn a "live-CD" image of any one of the dozen or so Linux distributions. Either burn it on CD or into a thumb drive (try unetbootin for this).
Use only the "live-CD" CD or thumb drive to boot your laptop, with it's internal Wi-Fi turned off and only access through the USB/Wi-Fi adapter.
Only connect to the internet via public, open Wi-Fi access points.
Move around, don't go to the same one all the time, randomize your pattern of use. Be aware of any video surveillance of these sites and avoid it.
Since the live-CDs don't store anything on your hard drive there's no record of anywhere you've been that can be back-traced and associated with you.
No, I don't go to these lengths - yet. If hussein wins/steals a second term I guarantee you we all will be taking steps like these if we want to keep posting the truth on sites like FR. (I expect FR would be forcibly shut-down within months of a coup by hussein) Yes, I have thought seriously about the need for that kind of privacy from the government.
