Catholic Church Rejects Surrender Terms from Obama

"My Catholic priest, Father Larry Swink, delivered a homily on Sunday that I told him would make headlines. In the toughest sermon I have ever heard from a pulpit, he attacked the Obama Administration as evil, even demonic, and warned of religious persecution ahead. What was also newsworthy about the sermon was that he cited The Washington Post in agreement—not on the subject of the Obama Administration being evil, but on the matter of its abridgment of the constitutional right to freedom of religion.

What is happening is extraordinary and unprecedented. The Catholic Church is in open revolt against the Obama Administration, with Fr. Swink noting from the pulpit that priests across the archdiocese were joining the call on Sunday to rally Catholics to resistance against the U.S. Government. He said we are entering a time of religious persecution and that Catholics and others will have to make a final decision about which side they are on.

The issue is what the Catholic Bishops have called [1] a “literally unconscionable” edict by the Obama Administration demanding that sterilization, abortifacients and contraception be included in virtually all health plans.

At a time when the media are full of reports about who is ahead and behind in the polls, and who will win the next Republican presidential primary, this incredible uprising in the Catholic Church is something that could not only overshadow the political campaign season, but also may have a major impact on the ultimate outcome—if Republicans know how to handle it. This matter goes beyond partisan politics to the growing perception of an unconstitutional Obama Administration assault on religious freedom. To hear the Catholic Bishops and Priests describe it, our constitutional republic and our freedoms hang in the balance".

right now on this......”

Strategic planning. I just love it when people think ahead
like this. Good job. I don’t have a high opinion of Han-
nity’s intellect but it seems like something he should be all over, especially since he is a Catholic. Hmmm,
Oh Whyly is Catholic too, isn’t he?

Too little, too late. But then again, better late than never. It looks like CW2 might be pro-life vs. baby killers.

While I'm happy to hear the outrage, I'm still stunned that the Catholic Church in the U.S. was pretty much silent during the entire Terri Schiavo ordeal. Sure, there were a handful of priests and bishops who stuck up for Terri & her family (thank you Father Pavone & Bishop Galeone), but there was virtually nothing coming from the pulpit about the horror on an organized basis. Now suddenly, there's something to get fired up about, but back then, for judicial murder, it was just an individual's choice. I'm so confused. God please forgive me for those things I do not understand.

the Catholics are not the only ones to go with some Obama plan and then get screwed.Look at the pharmas and the oil and gas companies that went along. how about the non union pensioners at the motor companies. This skinny waisted little prick has lied and then screwed any number of groups. How would you like to be a banker that was on one of his many committees?

Was your comment directed to me, or was this just a reply to the thread in general?

I do not doubt that Obama, who fancies himself the best president since Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln, also considers himself the best Christian since Paul, Peter, and John.

Actually, I think that Obama imagines that he is the Messiah.

But he doesn’t use the word the way we would. He does not imagine himself to be Jesus. He imagines himself to be the Mahdi—a Muslim messiah.

He has never been a Christian, and I doubt if he was ever baptized.

The letter was read before Mass by the Senior Warden. Father referred to it during his personal message just before dismissal. There were no copies available for people to take away, but he did refer everyone to the diocesan and parishional websites, where the letter has been posted.

There was scattered applause when he mentioned the letter.

Several of us had an interesting chat with our priest after Mass today, during the monthly coffee & donuts. He hadn't read the Bishop's letter during Mass, but instead posted it on the doorways. He noted that the Bishops had been promoting socialist ideas for 50 years (actually it's been 90, but who's counting?) and now it's come back to bite them.

I don't expect much out of our Bishop. He's not quite as much of a lefty as was his predecessor, but he'd fit in well with the Democrats in Congress.
