Gingrich says he will not drop out of the race tonight [Nevada LIVE THREAD]
Wash Times ^ | 2-4-12 | Hallow

Newt Gingrich will stay in the Republican presidential nomination contest despite an expected loss to Mitt Romney in Saturday’s Nevada caucuses, the former speaker told The Washington Times late Saturday afternoon.

“We had excellent fundraising meetings and calls yesterday,” Mr. Gingrich said. “Super Tuesday and beyond look good.”

The Georgia native thus dispelled rumors circulating in the press that his campaign had scheduled a press conference for late Saturday, after the results were in from the Nevada caucuses.

“We will probably be a solid second here with [Rick] Santorum in last place,” Mr. Gingrich said, while acknowledging indirectly that attracting donors and voters in sufficient force to overtake Mr. Romney will be a challenge in the coming weeks.

Press Conferences is what he needs to do, not debates. There’s natural synergy and momentum in the exchanges. Very Presidential!

I think I’ll take a few hours off politics, like the good Speaker prescribes.

Newt Gingrich just finished his interview and did very well!

He smacked one reporter who asked a stupid question.
He was able to share his view on “safety net” vs Trampoline Helping lift the poor out of their poor state vs Romney’s safety net.

Kraut says this was “the best of Newt and the worst of Newt”, meaning the best was his positive messages, whereas the worst was the detail he went into about Romney’s lying, dishonesty, etc. FNC thinks he’s “in the weeds” of minutia, flailing, “odd”, “shocked”, etc.

So methinks when you leave the pundit class thinking you’re off the rails on the crazy train, you’re probably doing something right.

I wish he would get off the past Romney attacks. If he’s asked a question about that, he should make a short answer and move on.

the one I'm watching shows Newt on Fire!

That's right Jane!

One thing I'm noticing is that if Newt isn't aggressively speaking people take it as he's, well, melting down. Not at all. He is reasoned and he handles the media as well as any candidate I have seen in the past two or three decades. I'm sure that comes from being relentlessly attacked the entire time he was Speaker of the House.

Were Mitt to have gotten the exact same questions as Newt got tonight he would be an ash heap.

Lastly, I like that Newt hit on the Moronism tonight. First time I've heard him mention that. Good, and I wish he would start referring to him as Bishop Mitt Romney every time he mentions his name.

Fox news is so ticked that Newt bashed Romney in his speech tonight. They cannot take it. When Romney bashed Newt and Newt complained, they called him a cry baby and said he should know better. Newt bashes Romney and he is flailing. I love how Newt told the media to go check their sources again as to who told them Romney was endorsing Newt as they got manipulated. The press hate him. LOL!!!! Newt pointed out that the only reason Romney won the last two debates was the debate coach he got and that person got fired!! Fox said he was so low to even bring that up! hehehehehe!

Watched the press conference and he did good as usual. Now I am getting ready to hear the caucus votes from the late night caucus. I thought this group was Jews and
Seventh Day Adventist who couldn’t caucus earlier because of their beliefs. I heard lots of people give their talks and they were ALL RON PAUL PEOPLE.

Well it was just reported Newt would go positive and then he came out petty and on the attack, also whiny. Maybe it’s strategy but I think Newt really hates Romney and it is affecting his campaign now. On Fox they are saying he was “flailing” there was nothing high minded, I think it was a very odd performance.

I think Newt decided he was the front runner and now can’t stand losing any states.

To me, it was great, He was able to point out numerous people saying Mitt Romney was lying and didn’t have the Romney crowd booing to give a bad impression.

But I am looking forward to his “get him” response next time Romney pulls that stunt.

"Newt scored a zing on the Mitt, tweaking how Mitt likes to FIRE people....hahhaha!"

Did I hear Newt correctly. Did he say the debate when Romney did his best and was coached by this paticular guy, now RONMEY HAS FIRED THE GUY?

These days, C-Span is a MUCH BETTER alternative to live Newt speeches and pressers (when covered, of course). I love that I could hear Newt speak for thirty minutes or so without some FOX/Romney talking head telling me what I just heard.

More and more, I can see a day when Fox News merges with CNN and ends the confusion.

So more or less a ‘spiritual’ MLM scam? A pyramid scheme to heaven?

The Watchtower weirdos who’ve knocked on my door in the remotest of hills over the years messed me up on the religion before I even bothered learning about them, this week.

They seem to be a parallel to Islam, minus the beheading and honor killings.

Time to send him some more money.

You betcha! Hope other Newt supporters will join us in giving whatever they can manage. Just think what would happen if every Freeper who favors Newt would send him just $20 or more!

Yeah, Fox really went after Newt. And Kristol was full of it when he said the fact over 25% of voters were Mormon was not a valid point. Of course, it is. In fact, in 2008 when FNC was McCain cheerleaders, they made it themselves.
