Bring back a rested and healed Rick Perry.
Sounds like a Santorumbot.
Does it? Huh.
Hypothetically speaking, if it did go to an open convention would the choices still be basically between who is left, or could delegates vote for someone else that’s not currently in the race?
It seems apparent to me that having both in the race taking away votes from Romney is the way to go. I think both Newt and Rick need to hunker down for the long haul.
The GOP elites are going to soon figure out their guy cant beat Newt and Rick if they are both in the race and they are going to be screaming for one or the other to drop out.
It would be between the remaining candidates.
I am uncertain if Cain or Perry could reenter and become nominee, but they could certainly influence the process.

Actually, don’t know what the current RNC rules are. Some delegates are bound for a certain number of votes. But thereafter, he could be anyone.
Rick Perry will NOT help Newt in Texas. After his “embarrassing”, and short, run for Prez this year, his popularity is at an all-time load. Newt will want to distance himself from Perry when he comes down here to Texas.
Looks like Santorum could take all 3 tonight. even with no delegates awarded, this is very big news.
43% reporting in Colorado, the AP says he has 42.1% with 28.2% for Romney and 16.4% for Newt
Missouri -99% reporting
Santorum 55.2%
Mittens around 25%
Minnesota (79% reporting)
Santorum - 44.9%
Paul - 27.3%
Mittens - 17%
Newt - 10%
Gingrich ex wife said he wanted an open marriage, no surprise he wants an open convention.
newt better quit talking and win something..soon.....
we had such a chance to win...but our field....well..the 62 mets have company now
Draft you-know-who!
So why did Newt just associate himself with Perry? Again?
Most delegates will be bound during the first ballot, and there may be some rules that apply to some delegates further through the process, but if there is no one with the needed majority, delegates will eventually be free to vote for additional candidates, either individually or by states.
There will be a lot of deal making before the convention, and I’d assume there will be strong signals given by interested individuals who would accept the nomination. It would be an interesting time, with a good chance that none of the current candidates would be the nominee. But boy would there be deals floated and positions up for grabs, such as the VP slot or cabinet positions.
You forgot Hewitt/Medved in that pile.

Of course. After the first ballot, if no one has the number needed for the nomination, it becomes an open (brokered) Convention and the Delegates are then released to vote for whomever they want. They could vote for Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint, Paul Ryan......whomever. WOULDN’T THAT BE EXCITING
so newt went from 20 up in minnesota to 10 percent of the vote....no wonder he wants to talk so much...its seems to be all he has left
