Santorum: Fear the guillotine
maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com ^ | February 9, 2012

Posted on 02/09/2012 1:55:08 PM PST by Tailgunner Joe

As presidential candidates go, Rick Santorum is quite an excitable guy. More so than most, the former senator is prone to delve into all kinds of bizarre, almost hysterical, ideas that he's only too eager to share with the public.

Just over the past couple of days, Santorum argued that evidence from climate scientists are an elaborate "hoax"; he said President Obama may force Roman Catholic churches to hire women priests; and he argued gas prices "caused the housing bubble to burst."

....here's what Santorum had to say during a town-hall meeting in Texas last night:

"They are taking faith and crushing it. Why? Why? When you marginalize faith in America, when you remove the pillar of God-given rights, then what's left is the French Revolution. What's left is the government that gives you rights. What's left are no unalienable rights. What's left is a government that will tell you who you are, what you'll do and when you'll do it. What's left in France became the guillotine. Ladies and gentlemen, we're a long way from that, but if we do and follow the path of President Obama and his overt hostility to faith in America, then we are headed down that road."

No- What you are saying is true. But it was not “The cause”. This was going to happen no matter what the price of gas. Gas prices might have accelerated it a tiny bit. But it was not the cause. Financial fraud and congressional laws that led to unreasonable debt were the cause. Rising gas prices were a tool used by the wall street bankers to bail themselves out. The bailout money we gave them. The Zero interest loans we have been giving them...It simply was not enough to bail them out. So they turned to something that we all must buy.

For instance. It became public that JPM rented a brand new super tanker. They filled it with oil, and let it sit off the coast. This drove oil prices up. After that they could sell it for a huge profit.

The frothing hatred of Santorum by liberals may very well rival Bush Derangement Syndrome and Palin Derangement Syndrome.

I think that Maddow and Janet Napolitano go to the same hair stylist.

Speaking of executions....shouldn't we get our hammers and nails to build gallows in DC?

Our pols don't fear us enough, so they are allowed to steal our earnings, our children's earnings, and recently, our private health-care. When will it end?

And you get your info from where. Rising oil prices came from Demo controlled Congress refusal to life oil drilling restrictions after Bush did for his part. Speculators also played a role, but the rise in gas prices was not just a tiny bit to accelerate the bubble bust as you suggest. Oil is the life blood of an economy. A Demo controlled Congress is the culprit for oil spike and the invention of derivatives for protection of losses. Watch PBS Frontline The Warning on YouTube from 09. It opened my eyes wide.

We were on shaky ground all that summer long. Rising gas prices at the time were one of the last straws on the camel’s back. Many things came together at that time, energy costs was one of them (not THE one).

“The only thing that Rick got wrong is that Gas prices caused the housing bubble to collapse. That shows his lack of financial understanding. But then none of the politicians have that right.”

Yes and no. Of course the root cause of the collapse was the uncontrolled lending of money to people that didn’t have a prayer of paying it back. But the actual trigger may well have been the gas prices, as the timing did line up perfectly with it.

I am not a “fan” of anyone running. That said, there is a difference between them- I would vote for Santorum or for Gingrich. I won’t vote for Romney. None of them has an understanding of economics which is one of the two things that made Reagan great. Romney thinks he knows economics but what he understands is Finance, That is a very different and much more restricted field. That makes Romney economically dangerous and someone who cannot keep his hands off the levers and dials.

So your really think that oil shot up to 150 dollars and then back to well under 100 dollars at the time because of a lack of Oil drilling. Remember this happened over just a few months time. And with demand way down and reserves way up then you think the current price of oil is justified.
Are you forgetting that the banks were collapsing before Oil shot up. They had actually been buying each others garbage MBS’s and such.

As for the facts on the financial fraud, and political corruption. It is hard to go back and find all the info. It takes a lot of time to do so. But it is there. One site to look at would be Zerohedge. Denningers tickers also documented a lot- Regardless of if he is to be liked for his political ideas or not. There are also forums dedicated to Foreclosure fraud. There is literally enough information to teach a full college course on it. I can’t possibly teach you all of that. You have to want to know the truth enough to go looking for it yourself. Following it as it progressed was a much easier task for sure.

Quite honestly. I have already given up that the general population will ever know the truth. Truth is something that existed in the past. Not anymore. This generation is never going to live in a time of truth ever again. We can’t even demand that a president provide an official birth certificate. This country will fall due to loss of spiritual morals, selective lawlessness, socialism, disunity, and deceit. I can see it, but I can’t stop it.

Once upon a time I thought I could be part of saving it, but It seems in vain now. Because the ignorance of the public is this country’s worst enemy. How do you fix that? You stand up, but too few will ever stand with you. They will just knock you down. Eventually it wears everyone down. Times have sure changed since 1998 my friend. And it is not for the better.

Maybe someday a population will strive to form another America. Just as our founders did. But it won’t be in our lifetimes. It will only be after generations of oppression. If mankind with its modern ways can survive that long, and if God does not put an end to it all. I guess this is the real truth about how great nations fall. It is so much darker than I ever imagined.

I guess I should go back into silent mode now.

I agree with Rick, maybe just not the way he stated it. We were having a rough time during the summer and fall of 2007. The gas prices were really high then and driving to work was eating up any extra $$$ and then some. I realized in November 2007 that we were soon going to hit the skids and attempted to cut back, was really too late by then. Not enough cuts at home even with my husband working a good job.

Then 2008 hit.
