I like that show and still watch it. He was the best part of it.

The Big Valley runs in the afternoons on Me-TV, Memorable Entertainment TV, a retro channel.

That show was a milestone in its time, with two strong women characters, Barbara Stanwyck as the matriarch and Linda Evans as the strong willed daughter.

Nick was the Barkley I wanted to be. But I'm afraid my lust for Audra would have made the show more convoluted than the innocent 60's were prepared for.

Good memories, back when macho wasn't a sin. Thanks, "Nick".

I loved that show...my brothers and I developed what we called the Nick Barkley roll when we were playing war and cowboys and indians.....run from behind cover, roll, and come up shooting!
Seems like he did it every episode...

I just started watching The Big Valley recently, about the time I discovered the “MeTV” retro channel in my area. The original series run was before I was born, and I don’t remember it being in syndication on any of the local tv stations. At any rate, it’s a very good western tv series. I was always a big fan of Barbara Stanwyck anyway. She was, as they used to say in less PC times, “one gutsy dame.”

He certainly had the best character on the show and he sure made the most of it.

R.I.P.

Always liked Breck. I’d heard he had been in poor health in recent years. Sure wish his older, half-hour western series, “Black Saddle,” would be syndicated or available on dvd. It didn’t last as long as “Big Valley,” and there are far fewer episodes, however.

I love watching the older shows. Just the whole attitude and mentality they offer. So refreshingly reminiscent of when the country and its culture were something to really cheer and be proud of. Unlike the drippingly pathetic metrosexual era of today.

I liked all the characters on Big Valley, but Nick was the ultimate cowboy...hard-headed but never hard-hearted.

I had SUCH a crush! LOL!

RIP Mr. Breck.

Thanks for all the hours of enjoyment you gave us.
