Why I Chose Newt Over Santorum
WorldNetDaily ^ | 2/12/2012 | Chuck Norris

Posted on 02/12/2012 8:49:12 PM PST by katiedidit1

In 2008 when my wife, Gena, and I were on the campaign trail backing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for president, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was fighting to get former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney elected. (Listen in this video how Santorum passionately endorsed and elevated Mitt in his bid for the Oval Office.)

Just three years ago in his interview with radio host and conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, Santorum also emphatically told millions of listening Americans: “If you’re a conservative, if you’re a Republican, there is only one place to go, and that’s Mitt Romney.”

Considering the alternatives that they were up against, it probably was a good choice.

“Gena, and I were on the campaign trail backing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for president”

You had all the RINO’s at Huckabee.

I would rather someone request an earmark, than co-endorse a radical liberal with ACORN., Make a Global Warming commercial with San Fran Nan, and propose MIRRORS IN SPACE.

2 words, 1. Deedee 2 Scuzzyfova Newt= Never

Also, “Kissing, Newt and Pelosi sitting in a tree” In Newt’s defense, he probably never agreed with Nancy on global warming, he was just trying to get in her pants.

Please explain exactly how Santorum is committing fraud. I’m not talking about a school yard explanation, either you know the exact law or laws he is allegedly violating and how he is violating it, with regard to the homeschooling, or you don’t.

I do wish the Santorum supporters would explain what makes him qualified to be president.

What has he managed? What committees did he serve on? What legislation did he propose ... and get passed? What legislation did he oppose, and why? What are his memorable Senate speeches? What does he think of right to work and union issues? What would he cut from the budget and does his “list” include the military?

Who is this man other than a socially conservative candidate?

I assume folks want me to vote for him. I’m open to doing that but I need to know who I am voting for.

I don’t trust Newt.

Newt has some good points, but no trust no vote.

Earmarks were how Congress worked.

Were they worthwhile or did he build bridges to nowhere?

So did Mark Levin in 2008 who did not view Huckabee or McCain as conservatives. You going to trash him too?

I will. Levin is pundit, a bookwriter, a talker. I've listened to him lately and all I hear is a sales pitch.

Hmmm. Some of this I did not know. Intriguing. When people propose theories of profound, systematic deception, I tend to question the theory, because in my experience, it takes a lot to motivate that kind of consistency. But what you’ve said, assuming its all true, would make this a deeply personal fight for Romney Jr., and would allow for rationalizing away acts of deception as means necessary to the end. Thanks for the insight.

That’s the problem I was trying to point out. The way you feel about Santorum is the same way a chunk of Santorum voters feel about Gingrich. This is the reason that either of them dropping out now would probably saddle us with Romney.

Conservatives better be cautious over the use of the "earmark" charge. It is a weapon used selectively against many Conservatives. Examples:
"McCain fires at Gingrich for earmarks" - usatoday Excerpt:
"Overall, though, earmarks about doubled during the time Gingrich led the House, based on statistics compiled by the taxpayer watchdog group Citizens Against Government."
"Palin's earmark requests: more per person than any other state" - seatletimes Excerpt:
"Just this year, she sent to Sen. Ted. Stevens, R-Alaska, a proposal for 31 earmarks totaling $197 million — more, per person, than any other state."
BUT.. more importantly, without knocking Chuck Norris's endorsement of Gingrich, I'd take his knocks against Santurom with a grain of salt. Why? Because among Norris's long bulleted list of charges is the following boldfaced lie:
• Santorum opposed the tea party and its reforms in the Republican Party and conservative movement just a couple years ago saying, “I have some real concerns about this movement within the Republican party … to sort of refashion conservatism. And I will vocally and publicly oppose it.”
Norris's edit (the above "..."):
"this movement within the Republican party …"
is actually
"this movement within the Republican party AND THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT"
Norris did not merely take this out of context, but deliberately removed the heart of the quote to reverse its meaning.

As for the context here's what Santorum said just before this quote, that clearly states which movement he is concerned about:

"I fight very strongly against Libertarian influence within the Republican party and Conservative movement"
See "Rick Santorum's "Real Concerns" About The Tea Party {About Libertarianism}" - (FR Link). This includes a video of the Santorum speech these quotes come from.

I would never have thought Chuck Norris capable of such a despicable lie. Whose influence is he under?

..between the two, we were originally for Santorum. But we came to realize that Newt was the superior candidate with a plan for every major threat to America's future, hence, Newt is the man.

His performance at CPAC only confirms the rightness of that decision...

The way I feel vs a chunk of Rick’s supporters. You say things like the liberal media and that takes years of taking in their propaganda. So what you think/say is null and void. American patriots are for Newt as their brains aren’t mush.
