No that he was famous, but my cousin (older than me, so not a young guy) was just killed by a motorcycle in CA. It was kind of a shock to me, I never considered that as a danger (a motorcycle/pedestrian accident). But I kind of think people drive like crazies out there.

I remember her from a soap opera I used to watch as a child. Maybe the Guiding Light?

Ah, hell. The sweet blonde gal from “The Nurses” tv-show in the 1960s. Saw her in an old “Gunsmoke” episode not too long ago. Damn.

I'm so sorry about your cousins death.

Actually we moved to Memphis from L.A. Our car insurance doubled. When We were in high school in California Drivers Ed was a requirement to graduate. People in Tn. have never heard of it. I went back to L.A. a couple of years ago after being away nearly 20 years. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to navigate the freeways, they were a piece of cake.

I only thought they must drive crazy because when I googled motorcycle pedestrian accident I got hits and I thought...wow, this is something I never heard of. Thanks for your condolences. As far as I know (altho my Uncle has not told us anything yet, he was traveling for the funeral etc) the motorcycist was at fault as there were charges being brought. But I haven’t seen anything in the news, so I don’t really know what happened.
I know that people drive like nuts out here (Florida). I have only driven through Memphis once, and I don’t recall them being much crazier than any other big city. We just spent a night tho, saw Graceland and left. I liked driving in East TX altho there were a fair share of accidents, usually involving alcohol and teenagers late at night, but hate driving in Austin and Houston.

Too many people here make this logic mistake. It’s like if you aren’t in front of a clinic nothing else matters. And most of these gripers have never done a single vigil much less tried to stop someone at a planned parenthood, ever.

How people treat animals is a reflection on how they view others in weaker/lesser positions than themselves. We can only care about what these people say we have to care about? Why do they assume caring for one group means we don’t care about other groups too?

Fatal zero-sum flawed way of looking at people.

Sorry to read of your cousin’s death, brytlea. Even bicycles driven too fast or improperly can cause serious injury. May your cousin rest in the Lord’s loving arms, and his family find comfort in their loss.

Thank you, and you’re right. Something to remember. At least I believe he was a Christian, and there is great comfort in that. His father is a wonderful Christian man.
