Pro-Romney Group Buys $500,000 In Michigan TV Ads (Newt Targeted)
NY Times ^ | February 13, 2012 | Jeremy W. Peters

Mitt Romney is getting some heavy air support in Michigan — the state where he was born and raised — as the “super PAC” supporting him invests almost $500,000 on television ads there.

According to someone who tracks Republican media spending, Restore Our Future has committed just over $470,000 for commercials starting Tuesday and set to run through Feb. 20. That marks the group’s largest purchase yet in Michigan, where it will have spent more than $700,000 on ads by next week.

The group said Monday that it would continue for now to run an ad called “Risk” that targets Newt Gingrich using images and attacks that have by now become familiar advertising fodder. It cites the proliferation of earmarks during his tenure as House speaker and shows a shot of him sitting with Nancy Pelosi on a couch in front of the Capitol, a shot taken from a public service announcement on global warming.

"Anyway, he has been fully vetted and nothing was found of major substance."

I'm not talking about substance. Substance means Jack compared to imagery and emotion to the "independent" voter that will decide the election.

Rick will be painted as a Puritanical Zealot out of touch with mainstream America and it's likely to work. He has provided sufficient material.

If you're looking at this from a perspective of logic or what's right & wrong you are certain to be both disappointed and enraged.

You are disgusting. You are a complete and utter piece of trash...Your post is one of the worst I have seen on Free Republic in 6 years

******************

What’ up with that, Naps? Can’t take a little joshing? Your post is one of the most vituperative and venomous, I’ve ever read on the board. If you had objective, I’m sure your gentleman enough to voice it without the bile.

When this is over, you’re going to need counseling. Some might argue that you already need it.

So you are speaking for others now. Wow. So cool of you. Are you the supreme being now. You sure do think a lot about yourself. You think your crap doesn’t stink. You walk around on all the Santorum threads and bash him. Funny you never are on the pro-gingrich threads (oh that’s right there aren’t any). If you hate Santorum so much than why are you being a peeping tom? You say that you have been very happy with Obama and would like him to be President another 4 years......And you think I need counseling. HA! I am just trying to get the best candidate that has my principles and guess what? It seems to be that my work is being paid off.

Rick is in it to win and the way things are going, he is making the right moves. It he is teamed with Mitt as you suggest, why did Rick tear into Mitt and dismantle him at the last two debates. Newt hasn't hammered Mitt as much as Rick in the debates. Using your logic, Newt is on Mitts team. Both propositions are ludicrous. This is the type of thing Ron Paul supporters latch onto. Crazy theory's and conspiracies. Secondly, what does a Romney PAC dumping money into anti-Newt ads have to do with Rick Santorum? That's quite a leap. Seems to me that Newt & Mitt are tearing into each other at their own expense. At a certain point, if you want to win, people need to be voting for something, not just against the other guy.

Rick has ZERO negatives...

And zero charisma. Rick's the perfect "Wonderboy" to Mitt's "Captain Sunshine." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgwpEDAsPGY

Newt/Palin or better yet Palin/Newt is the Obamabeater.

You quote my post to improper effect. I said nothing about Rick or negativity. I merely stated that, though Rick was in the lead, Romney still attacks Newt. Newt supporters know why— that’s all I said.

It might be over the top but last night I had a person say that I should not take the music away from my children just because Niki had that nasty spectacle on the Grammies. Tonight we have a FREEPER talking homosexual sex. People are bashing a good Christian man day in, day out. It has gotten out of hand here and that was the last straw for me. If people want to say gutter talk than I am going to call them on it.

If Romney can’t hit Santorum directly with effect, he’ll continue to bash Newt and make it seem like Santorum is a friend, not foe, to Romney. This will force Santorum to get even tougher on Romney or be accused of being in the tank for Romney
*****************

Oh, I see. So, because Romney runs ads against Newt and disregards Rick, Rick won’t just sit back and allow them to destroy each other. Instead, he’ll spend money attacking Romney to prove he can do it. Huh, might work.

Exactly. Romney was the more conservative candidate in 2008. That is why conservatives flocked to endorse Romney. The alternative was McLame, even worse. Do people really have that short of a memory, or is it convenient memory loss?

Really?

MM, Newt’s his own guy- they can’t deal with him- they can’t buy him. To Romney, everyone else can be bought- just a matter of price.

That is it!!!! There is nothing left.

Rick Santorum voted to confirm Sonya Sotomayor to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, putting her on the fast track to a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court.

Oh brother. You calling for homosexual sex on this political site and you are being sanctimonious. You need to check yourself and stop with the X rated talk on this site. By the way, you pinged me....I didn’t ping you. You need to have the discipline to not ping me. Showing your lack of discipline with gutter talk, I am sure you will be bothering me again soon. You just can’t help it.

That was Christian? Is that how Christ would have responded? As a fellow Christian, I think you owe her an apology, Naps-— you over-reacted, imo, with all due respect. I think if you go back and re-read exactly what you wrote- you’ll feel the same way.

In fairness, I too think part of her remark at least was improper- she had no right to tell you to use “hand soap” - that’s none of her business. -:) -:)

Your guy’s winning Naps (for now)— enjoy the ride.

Be prepared to be forced with a Romney/Santorum political marriage this fall.

Looks like you're into distorting the real picture.

You mean besides his lack of much of a fiscal conservative record, his lack of ideas, and his lack of a trace of charisma?
