I don't think Newt needs to resign. Nor Santorum. Make the case to the voters that your candidate is the best one.

Romney sucks. We all know that. The rest of the country is leaning. He's never broken his ceiling in polls. If you can't beat him without crying about someone else "taking your votes" you're not good enough.

But this from PPP is devastating news for Gingrich and makes the NRO case for withdrawal more persuasive.

“Republican voters aren’t just declining to vote for Gingrich at this point- they don’t even like him anymore. Just 38% have a favorable opinion of him to 47% with a negative one. His numbers are inching back closer to what they were before his surge in the polls began in November.”

I swear Obama could take a crap on their collective heads and they would thank him for the warm feelings.

LOL, believe me, he has and continues to. Remember the black caucus going off on him. The real moonbats, say 20% will always be with him and as crazy as it is, that's who he's presently pandering to. Not exactly typical election strategy. I think it's because he's not getting half the money he was planning on. Regardless of the reason, it ain't normal.

The other thing I think is important is how many huge lies he's having to tell so far out from the election. And all this to get the most meager traction. The jeering has already started. It was only six months ago that people were wondering if the msm would turn on him before he completely delegitimized liberalism. There will be more of this as time goes on and he gets even more frantic.

At this point the GOP primary voters are as fickle as a thirteen year old girl trying to decide which teen idol she likes this week.

Newt is my guy and I could vote for Santorum but until actual votes and not polls are counted it is crazy for either to get out. Both need to stay in the race IMHO

My money's still on Newt.

Courageous Newt Gingrich has the quality of stamina and is battle tested. Once the Real America has the opportunity to vote, watch a resurgent Gingrich take the lead.

In 2010 they did. Do you think anythings really changed sense then. I think it's just gotten worse for the rats.

I think a good step toward getting a read on what is really happening is to turn off all the jabbering fools on the TV.

I agree, let Gingrich and Santorum take Romney out and let the people vote for who they want.

I want Gingrich and I would like a chance to vote for him— so National Review can kiss my butt.

I am sick of a few states deciding or eliminating for the rest of us. Screw that.

If this keeps up,

... the chances that Mitt will be neutered are very good. Then you and I may get our wish at a brokered convention. In the absence of Rick, Mitt wins this in three weeks. If Newt drops out, then a more conservative champion disappears and we are exposed to the risk that Rick may slip and leave the nomination to Mitt. If both Rick and Newt stay in, then the eventual nominee may be either Newt or Gov. Palin. As for NRO, I think that it is clear from their own comments section that even their own muddle-headed editorial board has no clear strategy, much less a potent conspiracy.

That’s a great picture of Newt.

I think it's an accurate measure of the man.

Newt Gingrich is seriously (as opposed to Mitt Romney's ham-fisted "severely" terminology) Conservative with the strength, intelligence and commitment to restore our Constitutional Republic. He will absolutely dismantle Obama in debates and will lead the charge of the Tea Party Patriots as America's comeback starts in just a bit over eight months.

And from my personal standpoint, it will be great to again have a Christian back in the Oval Office.

“Romney is forced to play Whack-a-mole with his negative ads. When he whacked Newt, Santorum popped up. If he now whacks Santorum, Newt may pop up again. Romney’s at a messaging disadvantage having to train fire on two targets.”

You are reading my mind! The path to eliminating Romney is through the continuation of both the Santorum and Gingrich campaigns. This makes Romney bleed money in negative ads and leaves no time to tell us what he would do (which probably isn’t much). NRO crapped all over Newt in this piece, but in reality, he’s the guy who would shake things up, not Santorum.

Of course, the msm will try to hype everyone into emotional frenzies but I think more people desire this return to semblance then we presently appreciate.

Yeah, several folks in my old neighborhood canceled their National Review subscriptions when they heard about this atrocious, anti-Gingrich, RINO-loving editorial. On top of dozens who’d done so before. NRO has been a reliable shill for Romney and other RINO’s like McCain for a while now, so this doesn’t come as much surprise. The disguise has come off enough for the NRO editors to show there true colors and animosity towards real conservatives and our movement. Time for these useless hacks to get a real job.

>> But it would be a grave mistake for the party to make someone with such poor judgment and persistent unpopularity its presidential nominee.

And by what measure of popularity does NRO itself stand to make such judgement? Feeble to none.

Go pound sand, all ye false prophets of Liberty.

I love that picture of Newt.

How crazy for them to tell him to drop out when the other guy has not even been vetted. For them to say this, says a lot. This race is wide open. They have to finish off Newt. Alot of people are posting on that blog in support of Newt and criticizing NRO. Stay strong, Newt. Everyone is out to take you down. I have never seen the media pile on one person like this-for months, they have been on Newt/like the media did with Palin. ("Go, Newt!") God Bless you.
