Romney, Santorum to Skip March 1 Debate
National Journal ^ | 2/16/12 | Sarah B. Boxer

The front of the GOP pack will be absent at the March 1 debate in Atlanta sponsored by CNN and the Georgia Republican Party, CBS News/National Journal has learned. The Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum campaigns said they have decided to skip the debate, throwing into question whether it will happen as planned. "With eight other states voting on March 6, we will be campaigning in other parts of the country and unable to schedule the CNN Georgia debate," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said. "We have participated in 20 debates, including eight from CNN." The 20 debates include one scheduled for Feb. 22 in Mesa, Ariz.

What changed his mind? Why is he running?

I say his mind hasn’t changed at all.

Sure can’t tell by his actions.

He’s a very lucky beneficiary of Romney’s $18 Million smearing attack ads on Newt Gingrich and he’s showing his gratitude. He’s attacking HIS MENTOR, Newt Gingrich, too!

BOTH ARE IN IT TO KEEP NEWT GINGRICH OUT!

Newt debated Santorum and then Paul, one on one a few months back.

It was well watched and imo all three benefited. The free exposure, bypasses the MS filter, and educating the voters on the issues. They then become more wary when listening to obama.

Oh really? How much have the candidates really discussed energy in debate format, including Keystone XL pipeline, $4.00 gas at the pump, fracking, etc. How much do we know about their energy plans?

There have been a lot of developments since the last debate, including, but not limed to, Iran’s new ICBM capable of hitting the Continental U.S., Obama considering slashing our stockpile to 300 nukes, his gutting the military the same as Carter and Clinton did, the latest GOP rollover on the tax extension, Obama’s budget proposal, war on Christianity, etc.

YES. Particularly in Governor Perry’s state. You have to know he’s furious.

CNN pulls the plug on GOP presidential debate in Atlanta “A March 1 debate of the four remaining GOP presidential candidates — the 22st of the primary season — collapsed on Thursday after Mitt Romney and Ron Paul declared they preferred to be elsewhere.

CNN just confirmed that it had exercised its option to pull the plug on the event, which was to be held five days before the March 6 Super Tuesday, when Georgia and nine other states go to the polls.

The event was to be co-hosted by the Georgia and Ohio GOP.

“Mitt Romney and Ron Paul told the Georgia Republican Party, Ohio Republican Party and CNN Thursday that they will not participate in the March 1 Republican presidential primary debate,” CNN said in a statement. “Without full participation of all four candidates, CNN will not move forward with the Super Tuesday debate.”….

It’s not over and actually, the fight is just starting.

We know our enemies and they’re within!

If anyone is not decided by now, they ain’t payin’ good ‘tention...........

Very few folks pay attention at this point -- or before. Folks become engaged when the primary comes to their state.

Willard and Little Ricky are some brave wittle soldiers, aren't they?

Dear Lord if Willard and Ricky don't stop this SH** I will vote for Obama and join others to send this political party to ash bin of history!

Right now Santorum’s surge has all the depth of a grade school crush, so maybe this cowardly move will give people pause.,

The MSM and Fuax News will make sure that few Americans are even aware of the pullout.

Rick is a coward. He is being helped by the elites who above all don't want Newt to have a chance.

A two term lame senator who's trained as a lawyer will rightfully and fully crushed in the general. In a way it will be a joy to see. Rick's instincts are always to side with with those who want to preserve the power of the State.

Rick is on the record early on attacking the the Tea Party. If he isn't the focus, he has nothing respectful to say. He has a strong narcissistic streak. He is not a friend of Liberty.

There is only one candidate running who would diminish the power of D.C. -- that is Newt. It seems the powers that be are doing all they can to prevent Newt from recovering.

What can possibly be learned in another one that hasn’t already been ferreted out of them?

You're kidding right? Afraid Santorum can't stand up during his moment in the spotlight?

Rick Perry was savaged for just suggesting he might not show up for a debate and now defenders of a certain previously low profile candidate are saying it's time to short circuit the process, time to hide from debate, that it's all over.

The only reason to duck out is fear.

They're cowards... the establishment's cowards.

Voters are getting hoodwinked and hornswoggled before their very eyes.

This whole primary is THE most chaotic mess I think we will ever see! The fiasco in Virginia, then they cut Florida's delegates in half, now the primary delay in Texas. (which I hope backfires on them, because it will allow more truth about Santorum and Romney to be brought into the open.)

I would love to see Texas have it anyway and thumb their noses at the GOPE, as well as other states to hold their delegate counts out to nobody, forcing a Brokered Convention. And, why not? This is such a disaster, that a Brokered Convention would be the apex of a horribly run party organization like the GOPE and what it has become.

This certainly does Not pass the smell test and I don’t know how there can be any doubt that there was colusion between the two camps. For either Romney or Santorum to drop out without the assurance that the other would follow suit would have made an individual deserter seem Cowardly. They definitely coordinated this.

Well, they have succeeded now in Both showing themselves as Dishonest, Scheming Cowards.

I have lost all respect for Santorum. He is now on the same level as Romney and I will not vote for him.
