Cults can do many things within their cult that don’t work among the rest of humanity.
A good tight cult can even have everyone in it commit suicide, as a team effort.
Hare Krishnas get along pretty well also.
They also have a monetary welfare system. But it is workfare. They ask you help clean a church for a couple of weekends and the like in return with help paying your rent or other bills.
The Mormon method of welfare is actually the one good thing about the Mormon church.
You work for it, whether it be in one of their bookstores to gain job skills or something.
They don’t just give you money.

BTW, this is only ONE store/warehouse they have - across the country - they have a vast black Angus ranch in Florida -
They have distribution centers across the country - How many churches do this?
And, their bishops give their time to the church - they make their own living.
One of my sons is a long hauler - he has delivered to some of these warehouse - says they’re incredible.
