Billionaire Sheldon Adelson Says He Might Give $100M To Newt Gingrich Or Other Republican

Sheldon Adelson plays as stubbornly in politics as he does in business. So the criticisms that he’s trying to personally buy the presidential election for Newt Gingrich are met with a roll of the eyes. “Those people are either jealous or professional critics,” Adelson tells me during his first interview since he and his wife began funneling $11 million, with another $10 million injection widely expected, into the former speaker’s super PAC, Winning Our Future. “They like to trash other people. It’s unfair that I’ve been treated unfair—but it doesn’t stop me. I might give $10 million or $100 million to Gingrich.”

Adelson, 78, certainly can afford to: With a net worth of roughly $25 billion, that $11 million, which jolted Gingrich’s flatlining presidential bid back to life, equates to 0.044% of his fortune. For someone with a $1 million net worth, the equivalent would be $440, or a two-night stay at Adelson’s Venetian casino. Adelson could personally fund an entire presidential campaign—say, $1 billion or so—and not even notice. Sheldon Adelson Could Give $1 Billion To Gingrich And Not Notice.

Is that fair? “I’m against very wealthy people attempting to or influencing elections,” he shrugs. “But as long as it’s doable I’m going to do it. Because I know that guys like Soros have been doing it for years, if not decades. And they stay below the radar by creating a network of corporations to funnel their money. I have my own philosophy and I’m not ashamed of it. I gave the money because....

What would Santorum do in order to support Israel, Dan?

Would he try to convert the Jews to his righteous religion, or bash them for their un-Catholic morals?
I simply don’t trust him to be a fair to people of a different faith.

So do I :)

not if a couple and the establishment have anything to do with it.

They’ve already ran from a debate in Newt’s backyard, guess the crowd could not be controlled as much as here in NE FL

FFS, I read the post and then thought WTH is this about but then I saw it was you going on AGAIN against Newt.

Do you ever give it a rest for crying out loud?
Infact please do, it has become boring and tedious

I’ve always found that people who self-consciously refuse to use punctuation because they think it’s cool or something have nothing to say.

Wait until after Mittens destroys Rick in Michigan, which he will, and then it will become obvious that Newt will be the right guy to use that money.

U.S. domestic politics is very important to me because I see that the things that made this country great are now being relegated into duplicating that which is making other countries less great.

A great American. I knew there had to be one who cared and had wisdom and the means to seriously resist the socialist juggernaut that just seems to be rolling over this country like it's absolutely nothing.

If Sheldon Adelson gives $100m to Newt and Newt wins as a result, someone ought to put up a big bleeping statue of Sheldon Adelson right next to the Washington monument because, man, if Obama wins again, I doubt there will be a Washington monument four years from now.

The time to wake up is now before it's to late before Adelson Slick Rick helps Mitt Romney win the GOP nomination.

Good for Mr. Adelson. This sort of conviction is something slime like George Soros can't even begin to understand.

Buying politicians is only okay when he left does it. You don’t hear a peep about Soros in the state run media but they won’t leave Addelson and the Koch brothers alone. They don’t like to see money spent to back politicians who believe in free enterprise and America as founded. They only like big money donors wh want to see the USA transformed into a socialist hell.

PERSONALLY I serve The God of Abraham - Isaac - Jacob ... having said that... I also serve the PUBLIC regardless of their religious or non-religious beliefs... having said that, I believe that Rick Santorum will be honest and sincere in his role as President of the United States... He is more “REAL” than Newt, Romney, or Paul.. IMHO.

This is not a bash on Newt, but I think Newt has too much baggage that will be used against him in the general election and is therefore unelectable IMHO... Rick Santorum has no such baggage whether you agree with his personal views or not. Has he made some poor decisions/votes in the past.. yes... is he perfect... no —> is he honest/sincere in his views... yes <—

This explains why Newt doesn’t have arrogance...but an endless funnel of cash to his advantage. As of this morning...Romney is down to $66.7 million left on hand.

The pussies Santorum and Romney don’t want to debate him after tomorrow because they know Newt will regain the top spot again over them.

"Bad news for the Newt supporters according to the latest article from RealClearPolitics.. this money will mostly benefit Mitt Romney's to claim the GOP nomination..."

__________________

You've “spammed” that same whacky theory about Adelson's support for Newt on several threads; however, a logical examination of the facts does not support it.

Why would it make any sense at all for Adelson to be contributing funds to Newt PAC's for the purpose of undermining both Newt and Santorum in order to help Romney??? That premise defies even the most basic application of logic.

Newt and Rick are both well documented enemies of Iran's nuclear ambitions and strong supporters of Israel; which are Adelson’s main reasons for contributing to any national political campaign. While you offer only some sort of vague, illogical “tinfoil” theory, Occam's Razor would imply that if Adelson’s desire was to help Romney; he could just cut off funding for Newt and give all his contributions directly to Romney's PAC. I'm sure they could find more than enough dirty tricks and attack ads to spend it on.

Further, after examining your posting history, the majority of your recent posts are either anti-Newt w/allegations you do not substantiate; or awkward accusations that Christians are being attacked on FR. I would add that, your posts also contained a plaintive plea to Jim; whining that he had “promised” you that he would not ban you from FR. While I seriously doubt Jim makes any such “promises” to you or anyone else; what is clear is that others must have complained about your nefarious posting tactics for you to have made such a whimpering appeal!!!

Frankly, I find your tactics less than honest. To that point I submit the following: Recently on another thread you posted a comment addressed to me regarding the same theory you “spammed” on this thread. Because I had made a post in support of Newt, you insinuated I was a hypocrite; yet you had no evidence for that statement. Yesterday I replied back to you w/my supporting logic and asked you for any substantiation you had for your ad hominem attack on me. So far, you have not even had the courtesy to reply back; yet you seem to have ample time to continue to post wildly speculative theories that are designed to undermine Newt's support.

Here is a link to the thread I am referring to above and my reply to you (See Post #45):

If I hadd all of that money, I’d buy myself a politician too

Not me, I'd support the ONE candidate who has the love FOR America and the knowledge and capability of taking America out of the hands of the enemy and in memory of every soldier who gave their life for our country. It's about our country and not about lying politicians and their ego/political ambitions. That's why the money goes to NEWT - the only candidate who has proven successes FOR America and the ONLY ONE who is a visionary for the country he loves.

O MY...really.. is this what Newt’s campaign has come down to? I sure hope not.... I think we have seen enough debate to know the differences between Newt/Romney & Rick Santorum...... it is time for the establishment RNC/DNC to wake up and get behind the PEOPLE and Rick Santorum... I suported Herman Cain early in the campaign because he was the best ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT... and quite frankly the best NOT-ROMNEY candidate.. Newt and Romney are the establishment.. I think Newt should stay in and keep pulling votes FROM Mittens and direct them to Rick Santorum.

I would like to see Rick Santorum move more towards Herman Cain and 9-9-9
