Running mates? Santorum campaign says Mitt Romney 'has done deal with Ron Paul'

By Toby Harnden

Last updated at 9:05 AM on 23rd February 2012

After Wednesday's GOP debate, in which Ron Paul and Mitt Romney repeatedly attacked Rick Santorum over his 16-year record in Congress, the former Pennsylvania hinted that something nefarious was going on.

'You have to ask Congressman Paul and Governor Romney what they've got going together,' Santorum told reporters in the spin room in Mesa, Arizona. 'Their commercials look a lot alike and so do their attacks.'

Santorum's top strategist John Brabender went even further, charging that the two men had "joined forces" and were coordinating attacks against his man.

Paul and Rom. were like two bullies on the playground last night.
It was beyond obvious that they were in cahoots. Steve Hayes said Paul team admits that they have been talking regularly, ie conniving with, Mittens and CO.

If I was Rick, I don’t know if I would want to continue to put up with this vitriolic assault. I’d have to ask myself if it’s worth it to give up my peace of mind and my life for
an uncertain future. He is a courageous fighter but at some point, you have to ask yourself at what price victory?

It’s clear that the fix is in for Mittens nomination with many, many forces working for this end besides him and his evil band of brothers.
And those think he will be a good choice to run against Hussein will come to rue the day.

Romney laid down the predicate for Obamacare with Romneycare which is the biggest power grab by the Federal government since probably the ‘60’s. We just saw Obama exercise that power with the mandate for contraceptives. Did Paul comment on either Obamacare or Romneycare last night? Did I miss it?

How specifically does the heinously big government RomneyCare square with Paul’s alleged small government economic brilliance?

“Disturbing” is a good word to describe it, Ls.
Forget the “great” fiscal policies.
The man, in addition to being double bagger ugly, is insane. And he’s proven to be a conniving little weasel as well.

Daddy gotta go to bat for baby boy, Randie.
Go away Paul family, all of you.

*needs fixing*

And he’s proven to be a creepy, sniveling, conniving little weasel as well.

Whatever deal has been made, it was not for Ron, but Ron’s son, Rand.

There you have it. A Romney/Paul ticket would be the worst thing imaginable for conservatives. If that happens, we lose everything.

First, your ridiculing Santorum because he is a man of faith is not clever or attractive.

I've noticed that there are either a lot of hypocrites or outright atheists on this board who have been mocking Santorum lately because of his faith. They would have him deny it like Peter just to win over so-called moderates and independents.

They sure seemed intent on keeping Santorum down last night...on the face of it, Ron Paul should be a lot more opposed to Willard Romney than Santorum, but that didn’t appear to be the case last night.

He should be. But Ron Paul is a social liberal. His vote to homosexualize the military should tell you all you need to know there. That's the point of affinity between Romney and Paul. Neither of them are social conservatives. They are both cheap Democrats.

“I think he wants a spot at the table for Rand.”

You’ve got it. I believe they have a deal. Paul and his PAC has attacked any candidate that appears to challenge Romney. What would be in the deal for Romney? Ron Paul would not only make the attacks on Romney, but would agree to not only not run as a third party but to endorse Romney. What’s in it for Paul? Romney puts Rand Paul on the ticket as VEEP. RP sees his son carrying on his legacy. RP lied about “breaking news” to get on the Hannity radio show to read a letter he had written denigrating Newt. Rand Paul would meet the geographic critera for a veep selection as being from Ky. which is far enough South and as being perceived to have Conservative and Tea Party support.

I just read this morning on Fox Nation where Rand Paul says he would be receptive to an offer to be Romney’s VEEP. I believe this may be a new emergency strategy to pull some Ron Paul support from Ron to the faltering Romney and possibly some Tea Party and Conservative from Santorum after his poor performance in last nights debate.

I think this is a possible scenario and is likely being carried out. I think they all three are slimey and unprincipled enough to do this.

This is the kind of thing that someone like Sarah Palin can insinuate without actually saying. Sometimes when she uses that purposefully ambiguous language it drives one nuts. I can see why it is necessary these days with the way the MSM picks up a sound bite and won’t let go like a puppy with an old slipper.

On her radio program this morning Laura Ingraham quoted Rand Paul as saying he “would be honored” to be considered for the VP slot by Mitt Romney.

She also said that when RuPaul’s campaign jet had mechanical problems, Romney offered him the use of his personal jet. She said RuPaul didn’t accept that offer, but he did accept the offer to stay at Romney’s vacation home in Massapequa.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Romney figures out a way to throw Newt, Santorum and Paul all a bone with VP (I agree any deal though with Ron Paul might be for Rand), cabinet posts whatever, and go on tour as a “team” against Obama.

Maybe Paul is unaware of the fact that Romney has a long established record of opposing the conservative and Constitutional principles that Paul claims to support consistently.

Key word, CLAIMS The surrender monkey CLAIMS he wants to cut waste in federal spending, but who has put in for the most wasted money in earmarks of anybody running, the surrender monkey.
Cut and Run CLAIMS he wants to get rid of the FED, but since he has chaired the house sub-committee that oversees the Fed he has done ABSOLUTELY nothing to rein it in.
Cut and Run claims many things, but actions speak louder than words.
