Twenty-two passengers on Carnival Splendor were robbed at gunpoint Thursday while on a ship-sponsored tour in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

At least one Mexican media outlet said the passengers were returning by bus to their ship at approximately 5 p.m. after spending time in El Nogalito, a tourist area known for its lush natural setting. Masked assailants stopped the bus and robbed the cruisers of their money, watches, cameras and other valuables.

We lived in the Twin Cities area in those days. It was 20 days of 30 below or 30 days of 20 below. Ixtapa was a life-saver !

There is little difference between what these highway men did to the 22 cruise passengers and what Barack Obama does to a hundred million working Americans.

At the core it is all wealth redistribution.

One difference is that the highwaymen had the guts to confront their victims openly and personally and to wield their own weapons. They are undisguised, self-admitted crooks and theives.

But Obama hides behind his oily and lofty socialist rhetoric and uses the power of the federal government to extort our hard earned money.

30 years ago I put in a stint as a Travel Agent. My boss, who had been in the business for another 30 years, told me at that time to steer clear of Carnival. She said they were a sloppy organization and she refused to book clients on their cruises.

Note that the Costa Concordia (the sunken Italian cruise ship) was owned by Carnival.

Puerto Vallarta says it’s safe despite Princess canceling calls

Last time I was in Puerto Vallarta there was a cop or soldier armed with a machine gun on most corners.

It wasn't considered safe for tourists to wander too far from the Malecon after dark.

Don’t people pay to see phony pirates, sharks and bandits? No one was hurt, so their loss is simply the price of admission.

There are a number of cruise ship “port of calls”at I would say it’s unsafe to get out of sight of your cruise ship. Number 1 would be St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, after that it would be, in no particualr order, Labadee, Haiti, Willemsted, Curacao and Aruba.

Cruising has to be the biggest waste of money ever, other than donating to the Obama re-election campaign.

I tried posting at the most popular cruising forum and was treated just like a Titanic steerage passenger.

They especially got all upset when I laid the horrors of all horrors in a thread, that I was building my own sailing vessel!

We’ve been talking about booking a cruise for next year; it makes a stop in Mexico. I’ve had a hard time convincing my traveling companions that Mexico isn’t safe. This gives me a very good example of exactly what I’m talking about. It may only be this one (so far), but the bad guys have just proved it can be done. Expect more.

And probably never will be.

Number 1 would be St. Thomas in the US Virgin Island ... Labadee, Haiti, Willemsted, Curacao and Aruba.
My son got married three years ago and wanted to honeymoon in the Carib.
During the research, he found hundreds and hundreds of warnings about almost every island down there.
He ended up in Curacao and said daytime was fine, but spent night time in the hotel.

I’d just as soon spend my money on a cruise down the White River from Cotter, Arkansas, fishing for trout.
