Murder rates in Detroit were higher back in the ‘70’s but today we see infants, toddlers and young girls being killed in the crossfire. WTF!
You know, that's what they say but I don't believe it. My parents lived on Detroit's east side and my dad was an executive lieutenant at the 13th precinct down by Wayne state. Most of the fringe neighborhoods were still predominately white and the neighborhoods were still in relative good shape. Most of the crime was occuring in the projects such as Brewster.
Almost every morning now we're hearing of an overnight murder or arson.
And here's another update, the news just reported that a 6 year old boy was killed when the car he and his father were driving in was riddled with bullets last night. This was on the east side in the Warren and Knottingham area......just a couple blocks from where I lived in the 70's...
