Santorum Surging in Michigan: Willard Mitt Romney has the "Down" Arrow on RealClearPolitics
02/27/2012 | Brices Crossroads

Posted on 02/27/2012 9:47:00 AM PST by Brices Crossroads

Just two days before the Michigan primary, Rick Santorum has gained the momentum going into the Michigan Primary. Two polls sampled voters both last Thursday after the debate and last night (Sunday, February 26), after Romney's disastrous foot in mouth comments over the weekend and his empty stadium appearance. Rasmussen had Obama up 6 Thursday, but now puts him up only 2, a net loss of 4 and in Rasmussen's own words a "dead heat". Mitchell/Rosetta Stone, which had Romney up 36-33 on Thursday, finds an even larger swing, with Romney dropping a point and Santorum gaining 4, a net gain of five points. Its crosstabs show that Santorum has regained much of the support he formerly had with social conservatives and "very conservative" voters, who may have been initially bamboozled by Romney's deceptive ads.

Mitchell Rosetta Stone finds an unmistakable trend toward Santorum and the RealClear Politics Average currently sports a sight that should warm the cockles of every Freeper's heart: A down arrow on Romney in Michigan:

To my knowledge, Romney has never won a open primary that showed him with only a 1.5% lead.and he has underperformed the polls in every open primaries this year. Romney is about to lose Michigan and that will be the end of him. Good riddance.

baggage large enough to fit into the holds of a luxury liner and make it sink...

You speak an extreme exaggeration of truth. Newt’s positives far outweigh his negatives.

Even Newt supporters have to be rooting for Santorum. If Romney goes down in Michigan, it’s good news for Rick and Newt.

Newt’s agenda ideas are super- but I’m talking polling data and electability. USA Gallup has Romney and Santorum beating Obama but Gingrich trails Obama by 15 points and more. This is a no-brainer.

Excellent points there.

And if Newt were clobbering Rick in EVERY current poll except Georgia where it’s narrowing...

I’d demand that Rick endorse Newt.

But it is about time for Newt to back his former student.

CONSERVATIVES UNITE! Beat Willard the liberal.

Newt’s agenda ideas are super...

Then vote for Newt, don’t go by what polls and MSM tell you how to vote.

Many of us know dozens with super agenda items and Santorum is one of them but we must choose to cast our vote with an eye toward winning elections and defeating Obama.

That’s what I’m doing here in AZ tomorrow! I wish Newt was up in the polls here, but he’s not.

If I was in Michigan, I’d vote Santorum tomorrow.
If I was in Virginia, I’d vote for Ron Paul.
If I was in AZ, Georgia or Texas, I’d vote for Newt.
Anybody but Mittens and his magic underwear.

You are so full of crap.

I will continue to support Newt because he is the right man for the job.

Our country does not need televangelist for a president. We need a real leader, a proven leader and one that can turn this disaster around, quickly and intelligently.

Win or lose, I will know that I voted for the right man. I will not be pleased to see Newt lose (God forbid), but unlike Saint Santorum, I will have stuck to my principles and voted for what I strongly believe in.

The goal here is simple: Do what it takes to knock Romney out of the race.

Go ahead waste your vote. Last thing we need is one who is always on the verge of a self-implosion. Romney exploited this “erratic” and “instable” factor to trounce him in FL and Obama will do the same thing in spades. You betcha.

Gingrich can make a good Sec. of Education or Labor in a Santorum administration.

Please don't take this personal (really) ...

But your suggestion for Newt's "role" in a "Way-Over-His-Head-Floundering" Santorum Administration is like consigning Einstein as the pencil-sharpener coordinator at Princeton in 1940 ...

Not exactly sure even if Einstein would have suggested permanent moon-based colonies within 8 years from now.

Newt's a pretty smart guy ... well-connected ...

Newt would be the Collosal Laughing-Stock of the Liberal News media ...

"when" ...

after being elected President, he hadn't accomplished that Lunar Base promise ...

Therefore, I submit ... that Newt had some serious conversations with some Burt-Rytan-types ... who said that it could be done ...
