You blatantly and illogically posted that we wouldn’t have a chance to vote for Newt if we stopped Rick now. Rick had his shot and lost MI and AZ when his support was at its peak. If Newt doesn’t do well on Tuesday, he will be more hurt than Rick, because he needs a comeback more. So even leaving out the issue of Rick’s competence to actually be POTUS, your logic is entirely self-centered. A win for Newt is better for stopping Romney at this point than a win for Rick would be. This election is about the economy and Rick is a social issues candidate. The longer he sticks around, the more the general electorate will think the GOP is not serious about the economy.
The media is trying to marginalize Newt because they know he is the most qualified and articulate conservative in the race. They don’t fear Romney because he may as well be a Dim. They don’t fear Rick because he constantly puts his foot in his mouth. You can measure your generals by how much your enemy fears them, and the MSM marginalization tells you Newt is who we need to face Zero in the fall.

I’ve actually been wondering when I would get mine.
Hopefully, there are enough Gingrich and Santorum people out there who think like us and will vote for Ron Paul in VA on Tues. We’ve got to stop Romney, or at least slow him down, and keep this thing going until Texas has it’s Primary May 29th. I don’t understand why this hasn’t even been discussed on here as of yet. But, like you said, it shows how poorly organized we Conservatives are.

I agree with you. I’ve been a Newt supporter for some time and plan to caucus for him today, unless someone can convince me to go with Rick (it will take quite a bit of convincing).

In Washington State we have used both a primary and a caucus in the past to allocate our delegates to the national convention. Instead of simply filling out a ballot as in a primary, in a caucus, members of local communities meet and elect delegates to the County Convention, at the county convention those delegates will select delegates to the State Convention who will select our State’s 40 delegates to the national convention.

However, the straw poll results will be distributed to the press the day of the March 3rd caucuses. So you will be able to see then who most Washingtonians voted for. it took til post #48 for someone to point out that at a caucus, you vote for delegates from among those attending. So y’all go to a caucus to participate actively, not to vote for PREz candidates.
Of course, they are holding a straw poll also at the caucus. But the straw poll is a side activity ... it really has nothing to do with the caucus.

I am a Conservative, have been on this forum for 12 years and have been helpful I believe. And while I don’t have negative stuff today to offload on Gingrich here, I am standing in support of SANTORUM. And wish him victory in Washington State today. Thank you all.
Just got back from my local caucus.
I moved here in 2004.
I knew we had a State Caucus, but since GWBush was the obvious nominee I didn't pay close attention.
I didn't get a single phone call or mailer from the local GOP on this election.
And I read the local news each day, too - nothing.
I've been politically engaged my entire life, so this came as a complete shock.
I just returned from the Washington Caucus. Sorry if its not the news you want to see, but this I think will be the way it shakes out at the end of the day.

My Table which sat 2 precincts had 11 people.
The vote tally was:
Romney 7
Santorum 1
Paul 1 ( a young kid)
Undecided 2
Newt 0
Despite the gauntlet of Ron Paul signs we had to drive through going into the caucus location, their voting numbers were very tiny. The number of people was unbelievable. I have been going to these things for the last three Presidential elections and this was the largest yet. Lots of first timers. Of my table of 11, all but me were first timers.
I’m not sure what gives with the 2 undecided votes. Why give up a beautiful Saturday morning to go vote for nobody?
