Someone explains that to me, because I don’t get it:

Why are so many republican voters sheeple or so stupid to vote for plastic-$3-fake Romney?

One of my biggest peeves is that a fairly large portion of the electorate in any election seem to think that their purpose in going to the polls is to pick who they think that the winner will be.

I’m sure that some people like this are of great value to society in their own little world, since politics isn’t all there is to life. But, sometimes, I wonder. I think that their primary function is to ride in the wagon and complain when it breaks.

It’s simple.

When people like you have viciously launched attack on attack on virtually every Anti-Romney in the race not named Newt, people get tired. They’re tired and frustrated that any candidate that gets any traction fails whatever unnatural purity test standard.

The bandwagon on this site is hilarious. One day, they love you (Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Santorum), the next day they are ripping you to shreds.

Here’s another idea. Next time maybe you shouldn’t post thread after thread of Santorum hit-pieces that make it easy for the Romney Opposition research team to locate and organize into a sustained attack.

And lastly, quit acting like an American Idol generation. If 22 Feb debate doesn’t happen, Santorum cruises. Too many stupid people put way too much emphasis on one debate.

Because places like FR are an echo chamber that would lead one to believe MOST Republican voters were partisan, tea party conservatives. The truth is, most Republican voters aren't like that at all. Probably many aren't even paying much attention - and in general, they just want to pick whoever they hear in the media has the best chance to beat Hussein.

Most of us here want a political revolution. Unfortunately, the average American still thinks the idea of "compromise" and "bi-partisanship" are noble goals and something they want to see in their leaders. There are a lot more of them than us.

Easy answer, Marguerite, the little Republican primary voters prefer to follow the “lead” of past nominees McPain, Dole, and GHWB who can “instruct” them “clearly.” People need to know who’s turn it is!

2/3 voted against Romney. It’s just that they are split up 2.5 ways (with Newt being the 1/2).

You'd think with the rise of the Tea Party people would be a little more aware. It seems so stupid to nominate someone with socialized healthcare on his resume, after so much fuss was made about it.

“Someone explains that to me, because I don’t get it”

You have to face facts. The vast majority of Republicans attending these things, and who will be voting in November are not posting on Free Republic or other Conservative forums, so the mistake we make is thinking they are going to vote in line with a poll taken here on FR, which would pretty much be split between Newt and Santorum. The typical Republican voter does not read and post on political forums, they don’t read right wing blogs each day, and they don’t even consider themselves political junkies like most of us do. They don’t do the things we have done that influenced us becoming more, not less conservative. So why are we shocked when the outcome does not make sense?

Because they want to win the general election and Santorum \ Gingrich can’t win the general election.
