Veterans and troops set to lose health benefits under Obama's budget: Increases up to 345%!

Concern is sinking in over the long-term effects of President Barack Obama's proposed budget cuts to military health care spending.

Critics say that by taking aim at the military health care program by adding additional fees and increasing required payments, the President is dishonoring troops and hurting the military's recruiting power.

The budget put forth by Mr Obama- which still needs to be approved by Congress before being enacted- would create $487billion in cuts over the next 10 years.

One of the biggest areas of contention is the increases of health care fees that specifically target military retirees by boosting their co-pay charges and deductibles.

Some reports cite unidentified administration officials as saying that they hope that the increases would put pressure on the retirees to opt out of their veterans benefits and sign up for the program put in place by President Obama's controversial Affordable Care Act which was approved in 2010.

'Would you stay with a car insurance company that raised your premiums by 345 per cent in five years? Probably not,' an unidentified congressional aide told Fox News, hinting that their plan to get veterans to sign up with other insurers would work....

Oliver Stone was in Vietnam. My husband just said as I read that to him, "don't we know that. He (Oliver Stone) wants everyone to believe the move 'Platoon'was the way everyone was in Viet Nam."

How will this work when the military fills with homosexuals?

They require an enormous amount of healthcare.

I totally agree with your post.

Before I retired in 1990, they had already reduced my "Free Healthcare for Life" by making it mandatory that I convert to Medicare when I reached age 65. (Never mind that I can't receive full Social Security retirement pay until I'm age 66). My wife retired from the Federal Government and she has kept her Blue Cross/Blue Shield @ about $400 per month...which also required us to subscribe to Medicare at age 65. Our Medicare premium is $140 per month apiece.

Our bottom line is that at age 65 we now pay almost $700 per month for less coverage than we had before we had to subscribe to Medicare as it has been recently adjusted by Obama.

I personally would like to have the option to not be required to take Medicare, but I don't have that choice the way the law is currently written.

What prevents you from being in Tricare Prime? Just curious. As an aside, it’s interesting that under the current system somebody who is a 70 year old retired federal forest ranger gets far superior health care than a retired airborne ranger...just saying.

no space available...nearest facility 30+ miles away. I am not some retired fart who can make a whole day out of a doctor visit that takes 60 days advance to schedule.

yeah fortunately my Mom who is retired school teacher has good health plan, better than mine

obamacare is gonna be one swell HMO for the whole country isn't it? With gatekeepers brought to us by the people who run the TSA and the IRS

I am already paying cash out of pocket for my kids to see specialists they need since no one here takes TRICARE FL

I guess you’ve looked at Brighton Marine? I agree with you and those who say things will just get worse. What puzzles me is that I’d think the GOP would make more of an effort to cut out obvious fat (Vista, Americorps, etc.) before benefits were touched.
