ProFlowers Latest Rush Limbaugh Sponsor To Pull Its Business

A post on ProFlowers' Facebook page announcing it has suspended advertising on Rush Limbaugh's radio show. (Facebook)

By Michael A. Memoli March 4, 2012 The number of advertisers who have at least temporarily cut ties with Rush Limbaugh grew to seven on Sunday in the aftermath of the conservative radio host's self-described "insulting word choices" about a female law student.

ProFlowers, an online florist, is one of the latest companies to announce it would halt advertising on Limbaugh's show.

"Mr. Limbaugh’s recent comments went beyond political discourse to a personal attack and do not reflect our values as a company. As such, ProFlowers has suspended advertising on the Rush Limbaugh radio program," it announced on its Facebook page.

ProFlowers, like other Limbaugh sponsors, faced pressure from women's groups to end its relationship with his show after Limbaugh branded Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, 30, a "slut" and "prostitute," equating Fluke’s advocacy of expanded coverage for contraceptives with her wanting to be "paid to have sex." Fluke has been a vocal supporter of a new Obama administration rule that mandates greatly expanded access to contraceptives through health insurance plans.

One activist group, UltraViolet, said 91,000 people had signed its petition urging ProFlowers to suspend advertising on Limbaugh's show.

"UltraViolet members are glad that ProFlowers decided to suspend their advertising from the Rush Limbaugh show. … Our members hope that ProFlowers will do the right thing and not only suspend their advertising but pull it permanently," it said in a statement.

That’s a bad bet, since libtards tend to be skinflints...

“Presidential Candidate Barack Obama delivers the one-liner “lipstick on a pig” comment in reference to a previous speech by Sarah Palin.”

Obama calls a woman a PIG and nothing happens.

Referring to females as a smelly animals is beyond the pale for political discourse and must be roundly scorned.

Also, Obama calls the War on Terror: “Overseas Contingency Operations against Man Made Disasters.” How sexist.

MAN MADE disasters? What about all of the women terrorists out there working hard for the Jihad? He disses millions of Islamic women in one phrase. Where is the apology?

Good start- Can FReepers start a counter boycott?

We could start placing orders for Rush's tea if necessary.

My email to pro flowers, whom i Have used a lot:

Are you kidding me? I thought you were a good American company for advertising on rush limbaugh’s show.

You choose to side with Obamacare and a leftist myth that people should have their recreational sex paid for by others? This fake student is over 30 and an activist. Her argument is fraudulent. At Walmart you can get birth control pills for $9 a month.

When you ask others to pay you for sex, you are a slut. Rush was right. Yes, the word was harsh. But she was saying that the government — us taxpayers — should pay far over cost for her pills, and those of all her fellow students.

We won’t be using you any more. I’m sad that you did this. But you aren’t the good decent company I thought you were. If you think it’s ok to rip off taxpayers, then you probably rip off customers too.

It’s “SHARI’S Berries”. I have used them. Once. Valentine’s Day, last year. Never again.
Like all of that stuff, it is a scam. 6 berries (+ 6 “free” ones) cost me $70 dollars with shipping. Plus, they now drive me nuts at holiday times trying to get me to do it again. Nope, for over $10 per berry, I expect to be somewhat impressed. My “hand dipped, beautifully decorated gourmet strawberries” were a mess, and started rotting the day after delivery.
They need Rush more than he needs them, believe me. Yeah, I tried them on Rush’s endorsement.

A lot of Freepers keep talking about civil war. It almost seems like wishful thinking. There are no clear cut geographical or cultural sides. Nor are there any leaders predisposed to fighting a civil war, so I wonder where Freepers get this crazy idea.

Yes you are right. These sponsors will lay low for a few weeks til this blows over than ease back into their advertising when the coast is clear.

Are you kidding? There’s no clear-cut cultural side? That’s what this is all about, socialism/secularism vs. freedom/morality. A clear-cut geographical side hasn’t stopped Muslims in Europe from waging war. Anyway, I don’t believe there should be a war. For one thing, the endgame would be rather unclear. What specifically would need to change for us to know the war was over? Do the liberals promise not to vote for Democrats anymore?

On the other hand, the cultural tensions are so great, that even one small incident could definitely set off an ugly period of long-term violence, if not a war. What if someone like Breitbart was assassinated by a liberal group or someone in Obama’s government and it was proven? That’s one small incident that could set off a very big conflict.

By gosh I like how you mentioned, share a copy of your order with ProFlowers. I have at least 7 birthdays in March alone that I need to buy for. Great idea! I think I’ll do just this and only send it snail mail. That way they have to pay staff to open my letter, deliver it, read it, and then pay their janitoral service to pitch it.

Life is suddenly looking up for this conservative. Let the games begin.

Just checked my email and got this:

Thank you for contacting ProFlowers. We appreciate your email and thank you for openly expressing your concerns regarding the current situation.

At ProFlowers, our mission is to delight our customers with fresh and long lasting flowers, and that is our singular focus each and every day. We do not base our advertising decisions to align with any particular political view or opinion as our employees and customers are as diverse as the USA. Mr. Limbaugh?s recent comments went beyond political discourse to a personal attack and do not reflect our values as a company. As such, ProFlowers has suspended advertising on The Rush Limbaugh radio program.
