Too Little, Too Late for Rush Limbaugh? Republican Allies and Advertisers Continue To Desert Host Despite Apology

Conservative radio host slammed Georgetown University's Sandra Fluke Seven advertisers responded by dropping their ads on his show

By MEGHAN KENEALLY 5th March 2012

Newt Gingrich was the latest Republican presidential candidate to distance himself from the controversial radio commentator Rush Limbaugh following his tirade against a law student that he deemed a 'slut'. Appearing on a Sunday morning news program, Mr Gingrich said that it was 'silly' to suggest that Mr Limbaugh speaks on behalf of the entire Republican party, and that he glad that Mr Limbaugh issued an apology to Sandra Fluke, the woman at the heart of the debate.

Following her appearance at a hearing in support of President Obama's quest to have all employers pay for birth control through health insurance policies, Mr Limbaugh called the 30-year-old Ms Fluke a 'prostitute' and suggested that she could make enough money to pay for her birth control by posting videos of herself having sex online.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York and a fierce opponent of Mr Obama's policy, criticised Mr Limbaugh's pugnacious comments and said: 'Whatever we do, and however strongly we feel, we do it charitably, we do it civilly.'

Rant: Rush Limbaugh, 61, left called Sandra Fluke, right, a student at Catholic college Georgetown University, a 'slut' for saying religious institutions should cover birth control under health insurance Mr Gingrich's fellow candidates already responded, with each varying in their severity. Rick Santorum said that the comments were 'absurd' and Ron Paul said that they were 'crude'. Mitt Romney tried to tactfully avoid the issue at several campaign events before finally saying Mr Limbaugh's remarks were 'not the language I would have used'.

Oh, I sent it to Carbonite before I even posted it on FR...along with some choice comments about their hypocrisy and support for the left’s attack on free speech.

The women was merely a foil for the left. Had she simply slipped back into anonymity, yet another chance to highlight the ridiculous leftist agenda would have been lost.

So some progs will run around with their hair on fire for a while. It always happens when they are exposed.

So some nervous companies will bolt, only to be replaced by others.

So he called a spade a hoe, it’s just semantics.

The lefts reaction was priceless.

Thrown off message?
Did you see Newts response posted earlier?
If a candidate cannot handle a hanging curve ball like this one, should he get your vote?

Unless the guy with her is blind, he would be the one needing the drinks.

Actually, the headline should read...

“Former Advertisers Who Left Limbaugh Loose Huge Customer Base as Rush's Dittohead Allies Desert Turncoats in Droves”.

"Anyone who expects anyone else to pay for their contraception is an idiot."

Sandra Fluke is mixed up with the Reproductive Justice movement. As past president of the George Town University Law Students for Reproductive Justice (LSRJ), her mind is infected by the alternate universe of Marxism. The state should give her everything she needs to reach Utopia--including things that go on in the bedroom. She does not know that when the state gives what is needed in the bedroom, soon the state will be in the bedroom. Don't talk about Roe v. Wade! Didn't the US Supreme Court hold that privacy rights included the right to an abortion? Just asking, you know.

Rush has made it through a lot worse than this.
He has something up his sleeve.
If all the sponsors leave, he will hawk 2 if by tea and make a killing.
I have been listening sine 1989 when I was working hurricane Hugo.
RUSH is DA MAN! ! ! ! !

I forgot to add this:
What do you call a female that says she is having too much sex and can't afford birth control and wants me & you to cover the cost? A female that is paying big bucks for tuition for college.
SLUT - no too good a word. Prostitute? No again too good a word.
We need a new word for her. . . . . . .

Cardinal Timothy Dolan ought to save his “criticsm” for Georgetown, which has not expelled this woman ...
Who now openly admits she enrolled on a personal mission to challenge Church doctrine on contraception.

Really. Doesn’t Georgetown, a Catholic university, have any student code of conduct? Or is code of conduct out the window with personal control, decency, and shame?

Today’s show will be like the Super Bowl of talk radio. Some people will be tuning in for the commercials.

Maybe with a few less sponsors there will be more content on Rush’s show making it listenable (is that a word?) again.

No, no. It’s about the railroad. Amtrak. New travel compartments they’ve designed.

You enjoy complete bedside environmental comfort and oversight, from lighting, temperature, entertainment and even room service, by way of the newly digitized berth control pillows.
