California salmon and salmon fishermen won in federal court Friday when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said the federal water project is obliged to provide enough water to double the salmon population. You can read the decision here.

Under the ruling, only surplus water from the bay-delta water system can be delivered to water users in the San Joaquin Valley, not water from the 800,000 acre-foot allotment promised to fish under a 1992 federal law.

From the rainfall so far, it looks like this is going to be a really bad year in California.

"Farmers screwed over in favor of fish?"

Where have you been?

Over 500,000 acres of dead fruit/nut trees alone. A fertile valley turned to a dust bowl.

I know that, I know how long it has gone on.

It is an atrocity. I have been right here and have stated this more than once.

Still I say Farmers screwed over in favor of fish, is that not true?

Farmers screwed over in favor of fishermen, you should have said.

I take it you’re in favor of fishermen being screwed over in favor of farmers?

Yes, it does. And yes, I am. I like wild salmon, and there are only so many rivers that can support a healthy stock.

I couldn’t care less where my pistachios come from.

I believe they grow other things besides pistachio’s.

It’s too bad there isn’t a solution other than save the land or save the fish.
