Per CNN after tonight only 20 delegates separate Rick and Newt.. so tell me again, why should Newt drop out?
Correct; voting for Santorum in Florida was a waste just as much as voting for Newt in Ohio.
Romney’s candidacy could end the election - and the nation as we know it - before a single vote is cast. It should be every conservative’s #1 goal to defeat him, and that means voting for whichever candidate is most competitive in your state’s primaries.
The conservatives will have much more power at the convention, Romney would be the loser and the elites would abandon him and side with conservatives and either Newt or Rick would likely get the nomination.
The elites aren't fighters..
I don't know who will or won't 'crush' Obama but I don't see Newt doing such a bang-up job either. Not exactly running away with it now is he?
And maybe none of them will survive Obama. He makes Romney look downright honest and these 'late-breaking' votes will exponentially increase in the general. We just have to make the best choice we can and pray. None of us has a crystal ball.
At his presser today hussein wished mit "good luck tonight", and followed it with a sincere "really". He meant it.
As the guy from Washington Times just observed, what Santorum has to do is just nearly camp out in the deep south states of Mississippi and Alabama and ramp up with volunteers and big bucks and come in first in both states to be the absolute, no questions asked, final Conservative left in this race who can derail Romney, then get the united Conservative support and take it to Romney I mean big time. As the last anti-Romney standing. That is what needs to be done. Romney cannot take those states.
Actually going to Georgia gave Santorum the 20 percent he needed to get delegates. I mean I don’t know if he would have gotten as many votes had he not done that. I don’t think he went there to hurt Newt but to collect delegates for himself. He knew that Newt would win but wanted 2nd place which he got. Ohio he wasn’t going to get many delegates so he might as well go somewhere to collect more delegates.
Based on my experience of watching elections for nearly forty years, there are two factors at play here.
First, urban areas have **MANY** more voters than rural areas. Let's say an urban precinct gets the usual last-minute rush of voters right before the polls close. That used to be a bigger deal before electronic voting machines, but even with the current machines, that can be a long line of people, all of whom have the right to vote if they're in line by the time the polls close. By comparison, in a suburban or rural precinct, the last-minute voters may delay the end of voting by just a few minutes.
Second, rural areas are physically farther away from the county courthouse. In my county, it takes a minimum of 30 minutes to drive from the farthest-out large rural precinct, and for one tiny precinct on the back side of Fort Leonard Wood, it can take 45 minutes to drive from there to the courthouse.
In very rural states, those distances can create huge delays in reporting the vote totals.
I'm not going to say voter fraud doesn't happen, but it's not the main reason for the delayed ballots.

Let’s imagine all 100,000 votes in Cuyahoga County were tallied FIRST, with an 18% margin for Mitt, and the rural counties came in later...
People would be screaming bloody murder that the vote total was simply invented rather than the votes actually tallied.

You are correct, but he might still fall just short of 20%.
I’ve been lurking since Florida- where I’m from- and I finally decided to register...this was one of the posts that did it for me!
I don’t want to sound like a crazy Ron Paul supporter, but I’m starting to think that this is all a set up- Michigan was the same way! It’s as if it’s all out of the control of the voter and instead in the hands of the GOP-E!
It all goes back to the Stalin quote “Power lies in the hands of those who count the votes!”
