Gingrich must endorse Santorum
http://www.freerepublic.com ^ | 6 March 2012 | impimp

I have advocated Gingrich staying in until sometime in March. I felt the vote splitting would help prevent Romney from locking up a sufficient number of bound delegates to take the nomination. The plan did a good job so far, but not a great job.

I think now the mathematics is shifting such that Gingrich needs to bow out. The reasons for the shift are:

1. winner-take-alls coming up soon - vote splitting begins to really hurt us in these primaries 2. we need money consolidating behind Santorum. 3. Santorum made the Indiana ballot after all

But now Gingrich needs to bow out.

You know freepers who have forgiven Romney for Romneycare? What are you talking about, who, where?

YES!

Gingrich must steps aside. His “southern strategy” is up in flames placing distant third and fourth in key states.

Working Women. This is a key demographic that Romney leads Santorum followed by a deficit of 11 points, and Gingrich is well way behind by 31 points and is one major reason why Gingrich can neither win the nomination nor the presidency.

Gingrich was the big spoiler in MI where Santorum lost by just three points. Besides the notion of “permanent moon-based colonies” and pie-in-the-sky $2.50 gas/gallon regardless of world energy markets or geopolitical conditions is simply risible and won’t play well with voters. Note, that Gingrich couldn’t even get the 50% threshold in home-state GA whereas Romney got a whopping 72% in MA.

If Santorum loses OH, we can attribute this to a divided conservative vote. The big city areas in OH have not yet been counted. Karl Rove thinks that when these county results come in, Romney will have won OH. He (unfortunately) may just be right.

Santorum has won IA; MN; CO; MO; and ND. Today, Santroum has notched up another trifecta: OK, TN, and ND. He came within a whisker of beating Romney in MI, and while he may lose OH it will be only by a coupe of points and Gingrich’s 15% would a major factor that explains this fact.

Working women:
Category Gingrich Paul Romney Santorum % Total
Working women 13 9 44 33 21
All others 14 10 36 39 79

If Newt can’t even take 2nd place outside of his own state, then he has no business staying in. I am sure Rick can find a Cabinet position to offer him.

I would take Gingrich or Santorum, but aren’t you ignoring the fact that Newt wasn’t competitive anywhere but Georgia? It comes down to Santorum and Romney, and Newt staying in only hurts Santorum. Armed with that reality, choose.

Do you know what the delecate count is for each candidate so far? I would like to know what the totals are. The one with the least would be interesting to know, because if one is asked to bow out, I would think the person with the least number of delegates would be asked first.

Including the ones in states that have been called tonight:

Romney: 235
Santorum: 94
Gingrich: 67
Paul: 43

But Gingrich is just coming up on a number of states where he's expected to do well, so he could easily overtake Santorum.

No you are thinking inside the box.

What needs to happen, is Gingrich and Santorum to strike a deal, and start campaigning as a ticket.

“No, because I don’t want Santorum as the candidate. He still looks whiney to me, and gets caught up in social issues.”

Right you are! I just don’t know what’s wrong with conservative voters. Gingrich is the only one of the four who has any positive ideas about how to fix what’s wrong with the country and he has the smarts to be able to debate FUBO. Both Romney and Santorum look wooden by comparison, especially Romney. A cigar store indian has more charisma and intellect. Even FUBO will wipe up the floor with Romney, even without a teleprompter. We are so screwed!!!

Romney versus Romney lite? No thanks.

Santorum and Romney were partners last time around.

Just as Santorum and Specter were partners in 1996 when Specter ran on removing the pro-life movement from the Republican Party.

2DV, Gingrich got his butt kicked tonight. It doesn’t matter what the match-up looks like, the facts are the facts. If Santorum picks West, we’ll be fine.

If Gingrich stays in the race after he couldn’t even win second place in the SOUTHERN state of Tennessee, a neighbor to his beloved Georgia, then it might be that Newt — like the rest of the GOP-E — really wants Romney to win.

Rick is starting his own country? What's it going to be called?
