It's not a matter of Wimp it's a matter of being more self disciplined and smarter than the Liberals. She used lawyer tactics to obtain desired outrage and got it. Those same tactics are used on witnesses in courts to discredit them by making someone mad enough to go off on someone verbally. THINK!!!!!

I agree that he screwed up and he stuck his foot in his mouth up to his knee, but it’s not the first time he’s done it and it won’t be the last.
He’s lasted longer than anyone ever thought he would. I personally thought he was a goner and wouldn’t be back after the drug use thing. And, to tell you the truth, I never gained back the level of respect I had for him prior to that.
But that’s neither here nor there. He has an audience. People want to listen to him. HUGE numbers of people are still very loyal listeners and that will not change because of this.
As long as he has that commanding of an audience, he’s going to get all the advertisers he needs. That’s reality.

In fact, from the way I hear it, Snerdly would be the Black version of Mark Levin without the polish if he had his own show. Rush calms him down, not the other way around.
Since Snerdly is Black, Rush should have just blamed him like Imus blamed his Producer who was the guy who actually made the Nappy Headed Hoe comment. Imus just repeated it and seemed to agree as an afterthought.
Imus took all the heat and I would almost bet it was in part due to the way he stuck it to Clinton at the Correspondent's Dinner years ago when he was the guest comedienne.
Then again, I pretty tired right now and I might just be susceptible to Conspiracy Theories.

I would expect some of those “big sponsors” to issue statements declaring that they are NOT among the “big sponsors” Rush mentioned as “begging to come back”. For example, if Carbonite remains mute, that company would certainly become a likely suspect as one of those “big sponsors”. Similarly with Sleep Train and the rest - - all those companies that bailed on Rush have put themselves in a stunning, “no win” situation. They can’t pipe up and publicly dispute Rush because that is simply a losing proposition. No way would they irritate half their customer base that way.
They have to shut up, and grin and bear it.
Ironically, those companies that bailed and are NOT “begging to come back” have to remain mute as well so as not to irritate half their customer base, PLUS “seal the deal” and permanently alienate themselves from Rush’s show. They have to leave the door open at least a crack in case they figure they need to come back.
If I was an investor in one of these companies that bailed I would be livid.

As in most such things, it’s not necessarily what you say as how you say it. I’ve known people who could look you in the eye and call you a lousy sumbitch.....and you’d laugh. Seriously. Some people can just do that and get away with it. I’ve always found it a bit of a strange phenomenon.
Rush, among other talents, is an amazing wordsmith. He can eviscerate someone with words without swearing which takes REAL skill with the Queen’s English.
His use of the words “slut” and “prostitute” were, of course, taken completely out of context by the Liberals. Typical. They never, ever consider the little term “context” (one of my personal mantras on this subject is “Context counts”). In context, his characterizations of Fluke were dead on; hoisted her by her own petard.
Liberals don’t do that. They decide you offend them because you disagree with their sick world view and it’s all over: they’ll call you everything but ‘white’.
We shouldn’t fall into that same cesspool, but to suggest that Rush foolishly fell overboard into said cesspool is inaccurate. Did he realize the firestorm he’d create when he said what he said? Probably not at the moment, but shortly thereafter; probably during their next break after his ‘rant’. He then knew EXACTLY what was coming and was more than ready for it.
That’s also why he has survived over two decades on the air; hell, he has flourished.
No such thing as bad publicity in show biz.
If anything, when the kerfluffle is over, Rush will have picked up more listeners, and the sponsors who return will have to dig deeper...
I let them do their own name calling; sometimes it is more educational to just listen.
I have a different take on it, and I think Rush kind of missed the boat. We know that Progressives speak in code and “Women’s Health Care”, in progressive-speak, means birth control, or more specifically: abortion. And Ms. Fluke made the deliberate decision to attend Georgetown, a Catholic institution, to do battle with the school’s birth control policy.
Now let’s consider the $3000 figure that Ms. Fluke is claiming the women at GT need for 3 years of birth control. The only way I can come up with that figure is through multiple abortions.
So, what is Ms Fluke’s ultimate motive in:
1. attending GT
2. trying to change their birth control policy
3. pushing to give testimony before the subcommittee?
I believe the answer is that she, and her like-minded cohorts, want to force the Catholic Church to pay for abortions. And they want to do this in a very public way.
That’s why they wanted her testimony to be on TV. They want to publically demonstrate the ultimate triumph of the State over the Church by forcing the Church to shed innocent blood, to do that which they most abhor, to kill unborn unborn children. They want the Church to have blood on their hands. They want to show Catholics all over the world that the STATE is the SUPREME POWER and that THEY control the STATE.
Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, once said: “It should be made illegal for any religious group to prohibit dissemination of birth control – even among its own members.” There are many Sanger disciples with us today and they are all on the same power and ego trip.
So, I believe Ms Fluke is not trying to play the “whore” or the “slut” at all. She is trying to play God
I agree with your post #8 - Rush screwed up. He does not screw up often, but his recent crankiness may lead him into further hot water. But when he does screw up he seems to have to justify how right he was, or misunderstood etc. Like the Donavan McNabb comments that took him off ESPN. He still drags that up to insist the media had it all wrong. When he makes ambiguous comments close to or over the line he cannot fairly claim that someone else took it the wrong way. They can take it however they interpret it. And Rush of all people knows that media will cut him NO slack.
