Honest Investigative Journalism in the MSM
Vanity

Posted on 03/08/2012 2:30:35 AM PST by matt1

I agree that the MSM as a whole is as corrupt and biased for the foreigner as can be. That said, there must be at least even a small amount of reporters/journalists, even in ultra-left wing outfits such as the NYT and the WP, who are intrigued by Arpaio's evidence which raises a natural curiosity even. These reporters must be itching to dive into further investigation of the obama's frauds and mysterious background. If threats are involved, and it's quite likely true, not only from MSM top management as well as from the FCC, the IRS or other agencies then that may be sufficient to make an honest journalist think twice.

The question is where would an honest journalist go if they indeed wanted to do some good investigative reporting? For example, if a reporter working for CBS expressed an interest to management to work with Arpaio -- do some extensive, objective reporting on the investigation, and if CBS is not willing support that reporter in their work -- not willing to back that reporter up not only in terms of professional integrity but also in terms of physical protection, if it is deemed to be needed, where would this person go? The FBI? Congress? There's doesn't seem to be many places for such a journalist to turn. This echos the position in which Arpaio is currently in. After his press conference he asked what does he do with the evidence now? Where does he go?

Jake Tapper at ABC seems like he would be the guy who fits the description of such a journalist. He consistently gets in Carney's face and calls him on his lies and bs each time. Another example is the CBS journalist who was working on the Fast & Furious matter but after her initial reports, she seems to have disappeared.

This would be a better topic for Rush than to scream several days in a row that some dumbo is a “slut”.

They are not interested in reporting, they are interested in changing people’s minds. For years, the establishment media blithely assumed they could steer consensus to their way of thinking simply by stating their version of the facts. But the tides have turned and today the consensus is that any news source close to centers of power cannot be believed.

The whole corrupt media hid video of Michelle Obama in an illegal ‘occupy’ of Harvard law offices.

The video is out now. by the new media...

So everytime we look at Fox, they are just as corrupt as the rest of the media...

They are not interested in reporting, they are interested in changing people’s minds.

This is an excellent description of the MSM.

Beyond that, however, I have noticed a general social trend that many people cannot really discuss any issue -- movies you like, shortest route to a restaurant, technical solutions to business problems, etc. Very few people are willing to engage in dispassionate discussions of facts.

Everything is about persuasion, manipulation, and forcing the other person to agree that they are 100% wrong and that you are 100% right.

Such "conversations" seem to be everywhere these days and I find them very tiresome. The idea that people may have legitimate disagreements is out the window -- now we have to change their mind because, well, they are just wrong.

Have you been a sleep since the 1970’s? Not going to happen. There are no honest reporters left, they all went into the profession to change the world, not report the news. Nice thought but so’s the tooth fairy.

I was watching Sean Hannity last night, listening to the two young men from Breitbart’s “Big” website and was so very impressed with their presentation. When Hannity focused on Breitbart’s intention of showing that he had definitive proof that the media has been collaborating with the Obama administration and fellow radicals I thought, “we need to punish the media”. I do not have Facebook but if the middle easterners could use it to start a revolution, why couldn't we use it to boycott the media - even if it were only for a day? “Big” should advocate for a media blackout and call it, “Breitbart Day”.

There is no curiosity. However there is probably a memo somewhere from the administration and higher that tells every publisher to bury this. Just like they buried Obama’s video at Harvard.

If I was Rush/Hannity/Levin, my show for the next 6 months is if Obama managed to bury that video, what else is he hiding? Now people will go Hmmmmm.....

I agree that the MSM(sic)

Nothing mainstream about the DLEMM - Dominant Liberal Establishment Mass Media. Conservatives need to stop using the acronym MSM because it's inaccurate.

My prejudice is against fanatical, mooselimb, communists that pretend that they are helping my country while they do everything they can to destroy it.

Here's a pretty one, happy now?
