There must be no one left at Wal-Mart this afternoon."

That's about as condescending as the line "why don't you go deep-fry something" from the movie Sweet Home Alabama

Why? Do you have something against Walmart? I shop their all the time? Maybe you think you’re too good to shop there so you think it’s a slur?

I'll drop what I'm doing and deep-fry anything that can't jump out of the batter. I BBQ instantly on request, too.

That's about as condescending as the line

Why? The first thing I thought upon reading about it was "Newt knows that his appeal is to the regular Joes in this country."

And it's true. Newt is not the candidate of either the country-club RINOs nor the self-righteous moralists with pretensions to betterness.

Guess you’ve never been to Dothan..........my guess it’s a line from Newt that got a lot of applause

In my town everyone goes to Wallmart. It’s like the Px on an Army post. See the Ltc’’s wife dressed in jeans and comparing fruit with the sergeant’s wife.

The big stores in Dothan are a Walmart Supercenter, Target, Kohls, JC Penny and then things like Big Lots and Burlington Coat Factory.

I don’t know where others are from, but here in ‘bama, Walmarts are packed on weekends.

That’s all Newt was implying.
That’s not condescending, it’s the truth.

Condescending is “I even say y’all now” and “I love those cheesy grits”.

I was at Wal-Mart this afternoon...and I assure you that I did not feel condescended to.

Newt understands. That is not condescension

There’s nothing condescending about that remark. If you are from rural America, Walmart is where everyone goes.

Nothing to do with condescension, it's because most everything Walmart has to sell is Made In China, Newt wants to start up American Manufacturing.

Ask me how I know, I work at America 4th largest seaport and I know where the containers are coming from and going to.....

Made in the U.S.A. has to make a comeback.

It couldn't be an indictment of the current economic situation we're in.
Nah, it's anything but that. /sarcasm

Condescending? I took it that the crowd was so big that the biggest store in town (Walmart) must be empty.

If Newt was in Florida and substituted Disney World for Walmart, would you be offended?

I guess people read what they want into a comment. If Romney said the same thing, I probably would take it the way you did with Newt, but Romney has a history of acting like the haughty John Kerry and we all know it.

Let's see, lifetime NRA member, ya all, I like grits, his Wife drives two Cadillacs. Romney sounds pathetic. Newt doesn't have a history of BS’ing the crowd like Romney, and Santorum is just too sanctimonious (look at me, look at me) for me to support him in the Primaries. If he is the last man standing I'll pull the lever for him.

You’re not from Lower Alabama, are you? Most Southerners can laugh about how there is only one red light in their small town and maybe a Wal-Mart that serves a whole county (or three) of people. What else is there to do in the Wiregrass? Tip cows? I confess that I am not from Lower Alabama though I have lots of family and friends who are. I’ve spent some time there as well, and I don’t think it’s condescending at all to joke about there being nothing to do there except to go to Wal-Mart. Great people. Great food. Roll Tide! (oh and do I have to say War Eagle!?)
