US Soldier 'Kills 16' Afghans In Their Homes
Sky News ^ | 12:14pm GMT, UK, Sunday March 11, 2012 | Sky News Staff

A US soldier has killed 16 Afghan civilians, including nine children, after entering their homes in Kandahar. Sky sources said the Afghan victims also included women and elderly men.

Minister of Border and Tribal Affairs Asadullah Khalid, who is investigating the incident, said the soldier entered three homes, killing 11 people in the first one.

The Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) coalition confirmed the incident but did not release the number of killed or injured.

Sky defence reporter Mark Stone said: "Details are still sketchy and various death tolls have emerged.

"It appears to be an isolated incident and the soldier is believed to have been a staff sergeant."

Isaf Deputy Commander Lt Gen Adrian Bradshaw said: "I wish to convey my profound regrets and dismay at the actions apparently taken by one coalition member in Kandahar province.

"I cannot explain the motivation behind such callous acts, but they were in no way part of authorised ISAF military activity."

According to the Panjwai district governor office, seven people died and up to 17 injured were injured in the rampage.

The injured have been treated for their wounds at Nato medical facilities.

Protests were held over the Koran-burning incident

The US embassy in Kabul attempted to quell expected Afghan unrest by also issuing an apology.

“If true The O will use the incident to accelerate our withdrawal from Afghanistan. If untrue, The O will still use the incident to accelerate our withdrawal from Afghanistan.”

I really don’t care anymore. Just get our troops out of there.

There’s no point in our being there any longer. There’s no point in another American soldier being killed or wounded there. Nothing we do (or refrain from doing) at this point is going to “save” the Afghans from a fate they seem to -want-. Nothing we do is going to turn them from Islam.

We -might- have “turned them” from Islam, but it would have involved actions that would have been perceived on the world stage as totalitarian, draconian, and unacceptable. We weren’t willing to do that, so the results we are seeing are the predictable product of an ill-conceived mission.

There’s no logical reason to waste our blood and our time and treasure there any more. Let the Afghans rot in a mess of their own making.

That’s my opinion only.
I realize yours may be different.

“Never give an order that can’t be obeyed.” —Douglas MacArthur

I’m hopeful that this is an explainable incident. Our soldiers are very well trained, but that some crack under the nutty ROE and the fact that any action they take against a wily and pernicious enemy may end in court martial is wholly believable as well.

The best case result of our “nation-building” efforts among the practitioners of Islam is that Islam in its Wahhabist or Salafist form is incompatible with liberty as understood and practiced in America. Given that both Iraq and Afghanistan aren’t crucibles of mad anti-American strife gives me hope for Muslims outside of America.

Right in the heart of Islam there are a majority of Muslims who just want to live life and improve their lot is a good thing. That there were no riots in the US speaks to this.

Agreed. And I’m afraid neither side will tell us the truth. The muzzies won’t because they lie and want to hit us anyway they can and our side due to fear of upsetting the muzzies. Most likely it was justified as a part of a war, like you said, terrorists hiding behind skirts and chilren, but our higher ups have been hit with the lefts poliitcal correctness.

Good analysis. If they were over the age of 12 they may already be stone killers and obviously every Taliban is a civilian.

So nobama can kill a US citizen as he pleases or others when a drone blows when he feels like it. So...what’s the issue here?

I concur, the soldier's action is a symptom of the overall disease. The heart of the disease are the State Dept./Pentagon/Base Commanders who eagerly kiss a$$/White House etc... leadership and strategy.

I cannot believe they are flirting with the idea of turning the Bagram prison over to the Nationals to run. That would be suicidal; Afghan is a perpetual House of Horrors on those who are forced to adhere to COIN.

All the nations of the ME are incapable of governing themselves(save Israel). It has been proven time and again. The failures stretch back many centuries. They fare better when ruled by a benevolent empire.

And we haven’t the belly for empire.

We never should have attempted nation building..it’s nonsense.

When aroused to anger by their madness we should just destroy their entire infrastructure from the air and lift not a finger to help them out of their squalor and insanity.

Hire mercenaries and issue letters of marque and reprisal against their shipping. Assassinate any abusive leaders, blockade their ports, allow no air traffic in or out of their countries. Jam their communications non-stop. Disconnect their fiber links to the net. Destroy their bridges and major roadways.

Keep the bastards so busy trying to survive that they have little time to throw acid in little girls faces as they walk to school.

Yup, I’m pissed.

While calling for Sharia, get real, Islam is a gutter religion based on a false prophet who took advantage of Hagar’s son (Even God said the nation spawned from Ishmael would never want to get along with his brother). Muslims are a bunch of perpetual ingrates who need to be left alone to their own devices.

It’s not inconceivable that somebody should snap. But it’s not inconceivable that the MSM is doing what it does best, too.

Ah, yes. The strategy that worked so well in quelling the violence after the supposed trash burning incident.

What was it Einstein said? Something about the very definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?

Besides, I thought Urkel was bringin' the troops home.

You mean that globalist sharia divorce we cannot get out of? This mean by which Catholic virgins must become prostitutes because that would mean US national sanctity from mingling and being fornicated by savages? You mean this kumbaya demoralizing thing pausing and moralizing for everybody so long the tax payer pay?

Ah, this nation building, yeah, the one natioin building at the hands of an army now accepting homosexuals, ie. soldiers pre-demoralized from having normal sexual relations. Ah, this army which now has soldiers committing murder suicide and giving the morale support to the homosexual death oriented Taleban... yep, this "new and improved" "army".

I meant: You mean that globalist sharia marriage without possibility of divorce - one we cannot get out of? (I forgot the sarcasm off)

The policy you advocate is called “reduction of the enemy”.

It’s a good one.

We are making Afghanistan safe for "Bacha Bazi", which the Taliban opposed, instead of just leaving after the training camps were wiped out. It makes me proud to be an American. I bet it makes you proud, too. The Afghan War is the longest war in US history and it has been a total failure and the entire mess has been utterly pointless, with the lives of good American men and women sacrificed for nothing. It sickens me. It's outrageous. The Founders are spinning in their graves. Our nation, governed by imbeciles and corrupt politicians, is trillions of dollars in debt-- strangling the future prosperity of our children and grandchildren-- all to boost the stock price of corporations that supply the DOD with supplies. Russia and China are laughing at us, watching us waste all this treasure and blood, as they prepare to put us in our place.

No, they are human beings and God’s children as much as you or I. Let’s not ascribe negative stereotypes across a religion that has nearly 2 billion members, most of whom are peaceful. We cannot come to any positive resolution by comparing our best to their worst. These countries are as backwards as they come. The Devil delights in these conflicts and he’s the only winner.

This is exactly what happens when your CIC constantly appologizes to the enemy, you get Americans confused and they no longer understand why they are fighting a losing battle. If the CIC has no guts to fight the war than the coward should bring our troops home now....
