Karzai: US Soldier 'Assassinated' 16 Afghans
Sky News ^ | 3/11/2012 | Sky News

Afghan president Hamid Karzai has demanded an explanation from the US after an American soldier shot dead at least 16 civilians, including nine children, in a killing spree Karzai slammed as an "assassination" that "cannot be forgiven".

The victims, killed when the shooter entered their homes in two villages in southern Kandahar during the night, included at least three women, elderly men, and a child aged just two.

On Sunday the mother of the two-year-old also spoke out. Gul Bashra told the Associated Press: "They (Americans) killed a child, who was two-years-old. Was this child a Taliban (member)?

"Believe me, I have not seen a two-year-old Taliban (member) yet. There is no Taliban here. They (America) are always threatening us with dogs and helicopters during night raids."

Another man said 11 of his relatives, including his children, had been killed at his house.

That's why the Alberta's Child War Powers Act should immediately become the law of the land.

Under my proposal, every family member in the 18-35 age group of every member the legislative and executive branches should be drafted into the military and sent overseas into the combat zone as soon as any foreign military action is "authorized" by Congress and signed by the President.

It's amazing to me that it only took us a few decades to forget the lessons of Vietnam.

Very sad. Would be a bit ironic if the shooters name was Mohammed.

It’s sad to see how long it is taking folks to regain their senses and come to the position that Ron Paul staked out years ago.

Even sadder is that more and more Americans will die before the election, when whoever wins the office will start taking steps to actually get us out of there.

I suspect, were Obama to lose, he’d sign a SOFA similar to what Bush did in Iraq to set the withdrawal in stone, and give the locals an opportunity to say ‘no thanks’ to the continued international presence.

Obama’s Fault!!

Yep, it's Obama's fault.

Bush's number has been retired, Obama's holding the bag, now and forever.

“I question the truth of this whole damned thing. If it’s true, then one (or more) of our people lost his mind. If untrue, it’s an effort to completely discredit the U S military, probably the latter.”

My thoughts exactly - this may well turn out to be another Haditha type incident where the initial reports paint the US Military in a horrible light but the facts turn out to be a completely different story.

I will reserve judgement until I hear from the actual soldiers on the ground.

the soldier should shout Alla Akbar, and declare that he is a Moslem. then all would be forgiven...

I disagree.

IF true, this soldier was just introducing these Afghans to Allah.

No harm, no foul.

I dont believe this either. Something stinks just like most of the other reports of “atrocities”.

So sick and tired of this crap of our military brothers and sisters risking their lives when the people that we’re supposed to be covering their ass do not have any mandatory conscriptions into military service for their country. I make this point because while my son and my neighbor’s son are going out on patrols and getting shot at while trying to protect these people, there are always same-age locals doing nothing but standing around, and not only ‘watching’ our kids getting killed, but also probably aiding it.

As Chris Rock said about Biggy Smalls and Tupac Shakur:

“Martin Luther King was assassinated—them n*****s got shot!!!”

It was a run-of-the-mill mass murder by a sick and/or evil individual—nothing more nothing less.

I'm thinking this incident was orchestrated as part of a plan to get the U.S. government to provide funding so the Brady Campaign can open an office in Afghanistan.

/sarcasm off/

“Afghan president Hamid Karzai has demanded an explanation ...”

Here’s one:

Your country provided safe haven for enemies of the United States. Enemies who attacked and killed innocent civilians. War is hell and payback is a b!tch.

I was wondering what his name is, too. Will it be released if it is a Muslim name?

This is a horrible incident. A small percentage of people do crack up, but that percentage seems to be a lot higher for those worshiping the Koran.

Set-up. We, US, would be suckers for believing everything these people accuse us of. Let’s just leave. We’re done there. Oh, and what are we doing in Africa anyway? This administration has more secrets than the DC Madame’s little black book.

You start with the premise that this war, to install a government at odds with the local culture, could be won.

And yet we did it in Japan.

The idea that we couldn't win in Afghanistan or Iraq is incorrect. We certainly could. We could impose our will, impose a humane constitution, impose democracy of some kind, etc. All that is required is the willingness to be as viscous and brutal as our opponents (or more so) and otherwise rule with an iron fist. The Japanese people (and Germans) knew we'd take out whole cities if necessary to win. We didn't play games trying to separate the people from the government, we went to war under the assumption that the Japanese (and German) people were responsible for their own government. We went to war with a people, and we demonstrated the will to kill even hundreds of thousands of civilians without sitting around fretting about who was a combatant and who wasn't.

In Afghanistan (and Iraq), the people know we are not really, completely serious about victory. Under those circumstances it will be damn near impossible for much good to come of things in the long term.

While I do not like Ron Paul at all (I mostly consider him a loon), he does make a good point about getting formal declarations of war before we march off to battle. I don't agree with him that the congressional authorizations aren't sufficient, they are. But I do agree with the serious statement that a real declaration of war would provide. We should be fighting these wars to win at whatever the cost, or not at all.

I agree.. bomb ourselves a pathway out and kill anything that gets in the en route to the border. And NEVER..EVER shed another drop of American blood for filthy, knuckledragging muslims.

I find it so ironic that muslims, who so commonly use children as human shields, decry something like this (about which we still don`t know the details, BTW) as “unforgiveable.”
