Newt Gingrich has a Gift, the ability to clearly answer questions & describe solutions to problems.
March 11, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

After watching today's Sunday News shows this morning, I was struck how gifted Newt Gingrich is in answering questions. On both Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace and on Face the Nation with Bob Sheiffer, Newt smoothly and clearly answered with substance, questions ranging from Afganistan to how to get to $2.50 per gallonn gasoline. Newt also calmly, clearly, truthfully and respectfully answered how he and Santorum differed. My conclusion is that we conservative Americans should wholeheartedly support Newt for President so we can retrieve our rightful place as citizens who can truly have our wishes listened to and implemented by a President who is engaged with the problems of everyday Americans. Newt has a gift and we Americans have a choice. Do we want our children and grandchildren to continue to be made into subjects of elite leaders or do we want to allow Newt to unleash the power of citizenship for us and for our children and grandchildren?

Go Newt! When I saw him last week at the Space and Rocket Center, I was very inspired by his speech. I try to watch his speeches whenever they carry them on CSPAN or other newscasts.

I wish his gift was to get votes. Hopefully Alabama and Mississippi changes that but so far he biggest negative is getting voters to press the button for him.

No question about it. Newt is far superior in dealing with media questions loaded with collectivist, nanny government premises. And his comprehensive slate of plans on energy, taxes, Social Security, are the best.

I just don’t understand why he is not the landslide winner in the primaries, except that it seems Romney has the benefit of establishment type Republicans while Santorum is getting the Church Lady contingent. These two groups don’t really seem to vote based on specific issues, but rather a personal identification with certain aspects of candidates’ expressed values and ideology.

I’m absolutely convinced that Newt Gingrich is the junkyard dog we need to rip Obama a new one and send him slinking back to his Chicago slime pit with his tail between his legs. Newt has plenty of DC experience as Speaker, executive ability from his many enterprises, and a silver tongue that’s razor sharp! He’s fast on his feet, delivers it straight up with no hemming and hawing, and is often witty. His work with American Solutions was very impressive and as we’ve seen recently, Newt is able to put into words what the vast majority of Americans really believe. His fevered brain also has plenty of ideas for making government work better for taxpayers. Is Newt pure as new-driven snow? No - none of the presidential candidates are in line for sainthood. Whatever Newt’s “baggage”, it pales next to Obama’s habitual lying and outright corruption - and unlike Obama, Newt is 100% American! Newt is like Larry the Cable Guy: send him to DC and he’ll “Get ‘er done” for all of us. Newt has “Been there, done that! Junkyard dogs are not show dogs, but they’ll save your bacon!

I am so damn mad at what Obama and his fawning bootlickers have stolen from us - you should be too - and I want someone to represent me! Newt Gingrich is that man! Sic ‘im, Newt!

Its a pity that the most intelligent and articulate conservative cannot get the nomination. Now if he were a Democrat none of his flaws would be considered much less matter. Just hope Romney has been listening closely and has the guts to go after Obama the way Newt has done.

Santorum is barely ahead of Newt in that category. Less than 2%. Newt’s problem is strategy, not getting votes. He’s skipped states that were foolish to skip. EXAMPLE: Many of Santorum’s voters in Missouri told exit pollsters they were Newt folks who voted Santorum to beat Mitt. In other words, in true voter sentiment, he would probably still be ahead of RS without the stupid strategy of Missouri.

Now if his strategy pays off, in MS and Bama - and I do not predict it will or will not because I never liked this strategy - he would win those two or get a first or second, and give him great chance to win Texas.

At that point, he will be in great shape for over all popular support.

If not, then it will go down as one of the greatest missed opportunities of all time.

The American voter more appreciates looks now; looks, noise and camera friendly heroics. More than a record of accomplishment and historic leadership in blowing up Democrats.

It’s puzzling but I don’t, really, understand why some Conservatives favor Santorum over Gingrich. Some will tell you that Santorum has “less baggage” than Gingrich, whatever that means; but Gingrich is the more capable. Both of them are Catholic, which means that they believe in repentance and forgiveness. Shouldn’t Gingrich be forgiven his “baggage?”

Well there’s Newt’s continued support of ethanol subsidies, there’s his idea that replacing the EPA with another taxpayer funded environmental agency is somehow “conservative”. There’s the idea that planned parenthood should be defunded and the money given to private adoption services instead of eliminating the funding altogether. There are his attacks on conservatives who spoke up against his support of Dede scozzafava.....

Frankly I have to wonder why if he was the great conservative hope he claims to be, why he didn’t rocket to the top and stay there as soon as he entered the race. Its easy to see if you go back and look at the threads from when he announced that he was running.

And Santorum, because of his progressive income tax, better fits the “Socially-Conservative/Fiscally-Liberal” category.

Yep, Romney has McCain’s supporters, the folks who have the ‘sure bet’, and Santorum has the Huckabee evangelicals.

You’ll note that none of Newt’s supposed “baggage” has kept him from doing more for the Conservative cause than any other person alive today.

Certainly, those who still sit in judgement of him are sitting on their own pile of baggage, and forgetting that those whom God chose to lead his people in the Bible were far from perfect.

If we squander the God given gifts, Vision, and wisdom of Newt Gingrich, we will only hasten our own destruction.

And . . . he resurrected a GA Republican party that by 1970 was practically nonexistent. He did the same in the US House in 1994.

Newt has seen every possible rat attack. He was guilty of nothing when he was run out of the House. It hasn't fazed him.

He knows how to exterminate rats, and if nominated, he will immediately grab Obama by his throat and never stop squeezing.

And yet Newt has the best arguments for a Republican to win.

Romney should have done won hands down being he ran 4 years ago and should have done plenty of preparation in them 4 years;

and a young fella like Santorum should be talking circles around all his opponents Republican and Democrat alike, and the media too, yet he struggles to make a sentence in response to a question.

Please explain something to me..we know what Newt's historical accomplishments as Speaker of the House are..we know that there are still congressmen serving today that were swept into office during the gop revolution. Newt wants soc sec reform based on the Galveston plan..Santorum doesnt want any reform. Newt is offering clear solutions ...the others cant get off the social issues.

Am I the dumb one here or have the conservative voter's totally lost their minds? GO NEWT! WOOT! WOOT!

Agreed.

...and I agree with all of you and your excellent points except for a couple.

We need a Patton-esque leader to stand up to the Chicago thuggery of our current (p)Resident - I'm just not sure the others have the straight talk or strategery necessary to get the job done as well.

I was for Palin (08), then Cain (12) and each have backed Gingrich. That additionally convinces me I'm on the right track.
