Tea partiers will vote for ‘whoever’ GOP nominee ‘turns out to be’, says tea party scholar
Yahoo! News/The Daily Caller ^ | March 12, 2012

Just because the tea party hasn’t been as noisy this election cycle doesn’t mean it won’t be a force come November, says Elizabeth Price Foley, author of “The Tea Party: Three Principles.”

“When it comes to the presidential contest, I think the tea partiers will turn up in droves,” she told The Daily Caller.

“They aren’t rallying in the street anymore — I think they’ve been there, done that, so they appear to be quieter. But tea party chapters are still alive and vigorous, and they are just chomping at the bit to pull a lever in November.”

What’s more, says Foley, is that tea partiers will ultimately rally behind whomever the GOP nominee turns out to be.

“And frankly, I think many tea partiers are eager to pull the lever in favor of the Republican presidential nominee — whoever that turns out to be — simply because, from their perspective, that person’s policies will be clearly preferable to those of President Obama,” she said.

Foley is the rarest of species: a tea party academic. A law professor at Florida International University and chair in constitutional litigation for the Institute of Justice, Foley says many of her liberal colleagues didn’t receive her pro-tea party book too well.

What’s to figure out? It’s survival mode. Take to best of bad options and go with it. Face reality.

You’re right.

God help us.

I’m going to vote like it was my very last vote on earth. And it’s not going to be for Romney.

Tea Partiers and Conservatives will turn out in droves, they will vote for local offices, they will vote for state offices, they will vote for federal offices, they will not vote for a liberal on the Republican ticket.

“the focus on perfection”

That sounds familiar: “the perfect is the enemy of the good”
or some such twaddle like that from about four years ago.

We are waist deep in GOP undertow.

Just wait and see.

If this goes to the Convention, there will be some real surprises.

Choose the right moment. And then act.

I learned this schtick in the military:

"Actually, sir, that turns out not to be the case."

I will NEVER vote for Romney.

Period, paragraph, turn the page, Amen.

No. It is never a waste of time when you fight. Everytime you fight, you get a bit more done. You’re not going to win every battle. You’re not going to get massive change immediately every time. Somethings only change within and aren’t immediately apparent. For example, maybe we can’t move Boehner along this time, but maybe we’ll scare him enough that he’ll go along with some legislation that he wouldn’t have before. Or perhaps he’ll hire a tea party assistant to help him.

But you don’t ever give up. Fight, while going down, if nothing else.

Well, then they can nominate Romney and find out just how much they are wrong.

No Romney.

On any ticket.

For any office.

Ever.

I will vote for the Republican on the ticket. The defeat of Obama is first on my agenda.

So voting for a liberal republican that doesn’t represent you, share your values, and will say anything to get elected is justified? It sounds like you are making a deal with the devil and willing to sacrifice principles far too easily, which garners little respect and then you will wonder why the establishment believes they can marginalize conservatives much the way Democrats do Jews.

Yes, absolutely.

The reason why liberalism has been so successful is because liberals have accepted whatever small change they could make. You get enough small changes and you end up with large changes.

We conservatives are the stronger presence in the country. It is why liberals seek legislation and judges to oppress us. It’s why liberals seek to divide and conquer, because they know our tendency to accept all or nothing works in their favour.

It is time for us to change the country in continually small ways.

Great, then let's draft Hillary at the convention. If she could almost beat Obama in a primary, then surely she could beat him resoundingly in a general election. I can see the slogan now...

This Tea Party, Conservative will vote for whomever wins the GOP nomination.

An Obama second term is almost too terrible to contemplate for what remains of our freedoms and traditions.

As a Santorum supporter, I agree with criticisms of Mister Romney and Mister Gingrich (but I respect those here who support them.)

If you want to change the nomination process (as do I) then work on this during the off season, not during an election year.

Keep in mind the image of Mister Obama hugging Marxist Derrick Bell. We need to band together after the GOP convention, and unseat Obama, or I suspect that we'll see the last of the First and Second Amendments, and the last of radio and online dissent (Rush and FR would be memories), I fear.

NO THIRD PARTY SPOILERS!

I will vote for a Turnip rather than see Zero get re-elected. I don’t like Mittens but I don’t think the country can survive another four years of this Regime. I believe Mittens may slow the decline enough that we may have something left over to rebuild the country with.
