He'll be around 67 years old when he leaves prison, old and gray and without prospects, but you wouldn't know it from his defiant goodbye speech, with the groupies chanting "Free our governor!" and lumps forming in the throats of some broadcast journalists who should know better.

Right; it was clearly stupid to be associated with Barack Obama, because knowing too much about him can result in criminal charges.

Barry will probably pardon him or commute the sentence on his way out of office next Jan.
Yes. I expect a deal was made for Blago to shut up about a good deal of what he knows, in order to get out next January with a full pardon.

Fitzgerald: "The tapes reveal that Governor Blagojevich wanted a number of things in exchange for making the appointment to the Senate seat -- an appointment as secretary of health and human services or an ambassadorship, an appointment to a private foundation, a higher paying job for his wife or campaign contributions."

A lot of people think Obama will pardon Blago. I’m not so sure. What’s in it for Obama? I don’t think anything he does is without thought about himself. Blago is just some stupid white guy that almost tanked Barry at the beginning of his reign.
I'm betting they find a way to silence him. Maybe he takes a "fall" in prison.
He knows too much, to live much longer.
—agree—my suspicion is that Blago has finally got it through his head that if he keeps his mouth shut (relative to Chicago politics) he may , with good behavior survive to get out on good behavior sometime before he is 67-—
Minimum time served in federal prison is 85%. Blago will be a minimum of 67 when he gets out - absent a pardon, that is.
If asked about a pardon, I bet Barry's answer will be, 'It's a bleeping valuable thing. You just don't give it away for nothing'
My personal thoughts:
On some level I find myself quietly laughing. I would never have sent him to jail. Why? Because it was crooks against crooks and they deserve one other.
Since he has no ethics, we may have been able to turn him into a snitch in exchange for his freedom and for protection to include his family. This would have include name changes and IDs.
This was a lost opportunity.
Maybe that is why he was sent to the slammer…to keep him quiet.
